Re: Weight Loss - Tips & Daily Check-in

I need some scheduling help guys. Trying to go early morning for cardio (HIIT), but I wake up at 5 am and leave to work at 5:15am - my gym isn't open till 5 am as is, so waking up earlier means nothing.

When I get home after work, I really have to push myself to go to the gym. Anyone else have this issue? If so, what did you do to overcome this fatigue? I seriously feel so tired when I get home.

I know more sleep is the key, but damn - the woman gets home at 10pm also - so it's not easy being in bed before midnight for us.

I weighed in at fat club last night and gained 1.2 pounds (in 2 weeks). Re-doubling my efforts. The chicken breast is back on the table baby!!

Re: Weight Loss - Tips & Daily Check-in

I'm going into hardcore mode for 3.5 months. Heavy full body weight sessions 3 days per week, cardio 7 days per week(running, walking the dog, basketball). Strict diet (1500-2000 cals per day), restricted alcohol (i'm only drinking on special occasions like my 30th birthday in July but i'm not drinking just for the hell of it anymore like i was before), lots of fresh fruit veges and lean protein.

I'm sick of just sitting around treading water. Losing some weight, putting it back on, losing it again and so on. It's time to get serious. I currently weigh about 95kg's (209lbs) and my goal is a lean 82kg's (180lbs) by the 30th of September. So i want to lose 13kg's (28lbs) in 15 weeks so an average of 1.85 lbs per week which is def achievable.

              TIME TO KICK SOME ***!!!!!

I've lost 5 lbs in 2 weeks by implementing a pre workout HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) cardio.

For those that don't know, it's just jog for 30 secs, sprint for 30 secs, jog for 30 secs, sprint for 30 secs....do that for 5-10 mins straight. Talk about metabolism increase, woooo - love it. If only I could do it in the wee hours of the morning, but job starts too early (6am).

You do it pre-workout not post? Everything i have read suggests cardio is more effective after your weight session. I guess it doesn't matter because at the end of the day you are still burning more cals and elevating your metabolism more than if you didn't do the HIIT regardless of when you do it anyway.

I had a weird situation today, I've been watching the calories for a while as I don't exercise much and it's my best way to lose weight. It was 7:30pm and today was a day I had actually gotten a little exercise in. As I'm sitting in my car I realize, I've eaten about 400 calories today and I'm not hungry at all. Is this normal?

Not for me it isn't. I probably would have eaten the steering wheel and half the door handle but that's me.

In all seriousness your stomach has probably shrunken so it doesn't take much to fill it and if you drink a fair bit of liquid it gives the full sensation as well.

Why do you say not exercising is the best way for you to lose weight, seems counterintuitive?

400 calories is not healthy. Eat. If you're trying to lose weight, eat 500cals below your maintenance level. You may lose 'weight', in the interim, but it's going to be muscle, not fat, and you'll end up skinny/fat, high BF% and no lean mass. This is not what you want.

I didn't type what I meant exactly; I meant that a low-cal diet is my best chance at losing weight because I am notoriously bad at maintaining an exercise regimen.

Good, that's exactly what I've been trying to do. I've been hitting about 500 cals under the level daily, in the hopes of losing about 1 lb. per week. For the record, I got home and ate a meal despite my lack of hunger because I knew it couldn't be healthy to not eat.

I do both. But I might try his HITITITTHTIH (lol) in the pre-session just to mix it up. I can't beleive how little I weigh'd in last 167 lbs! I haven't been that light since 1st year uni back in 2000! But I look way bigger, there is no way in hell someone would guess my weight correctly at this point. 2 years ago I was 204, but still worked out and was athletic, but ever since then I've been dropping the pounds but taking vacations at 190, 185, and 170. (plateau's)

One thing that's bothering me is the 'problem areas' are still there a little. I wish they would thin out and I'd be a tad bit more uniform. Instead what's happening is some parts are getting really lean (almost a bit gross for me) and I still have a couple of fatty pockets. For example my calves are SHREDDED The muscle definition is scary. But then my lower abs still have a bit of a pouch and oddly the only other area I'm not happy with is a bit too much fat under the arms.

I think a lot of people overestimate how many calories they burn working out. It doesn't take much food to completely undo an entire workout. I think one slice of chocolate cake takes about 30 minutes on the treadmill to burn off.

That's true Matt but exercising also can speed up your overall metabolism so it's not just the calories you burnt during the workout. I've managed to lose the 1.2 pounds I put on last week. It was so humiliating to go to fat club after having gained and have to do the Walrus walk. I have to get back to losing.
