Re: Weight Loss - Tips & Daily Check-in

Good work ODogg. Way to stay on top of it and not let it build up.

I haven't weighed in a week (when I found out I had lost 12 lbs. in a month), but I definitely notice a difference in how I feel five weeks into this lifestyle change. A good deal more energy, even for me at 290. I am excited to see how good I feel when I keep getting that number lower! Any success stories about how much better you feel/how much more you can do at a lower weight? I would love to hear about them.

TheGamingChef - I made a big mistake of listening to some folks in this thread and eating more calories. 2 weeks of eating more calories, most of it (85 to 90%) healthy food, and I have a 3 pound gain to show for it. I'm done with it. I'm going back to my 1500 calorie a day routine. I started back on this on Monday and have already lost 1 pound of the 3 pounds I gained in the last two weeks.

As for me, I'm about to leave for the day but my biggest thing is last year, when I was 285, I took about 45 minutes to mow the lawn and I was sweating up a storm and the last half of it was a real struggle, I was breathing hard and sweating. But this summer, in which I'm 253, I can do the entire lawn in 25-30 minutes and it's a breeze. I usually get a semi-sweat but not drenched and I never even get to a heavy breathing at all. It's incredible the difference!!!!!!!!!

Whatever works for you bro...But keep in mind the 3 pound gain could be muscle...You may not feel it but you get muscles from where you can't even tell. When you cut down more you will begin feeling those muscles...Like I got weird ones on my back and I'm like WTF?!?! That was after my 2nd cut down process.

My update: Just got done with building up...Just gonna lose 10lbs and keep my body like that...I'll need to do more cardio for the army...That's my focus until I get to MEPS.

          What's MEPS rip?

I have gotten up at 5.30am every day this week and got my cardio done + 3 weight sessions. Feel great and nothing is stopping me from reaching my goals.

My only problem with that weight loss group (just like the biggest loser) is that it all goes on scale weight and not body composition. I guess when it's mostly obese people getting the scale going down is a great thing but there is a huge difference between being a muscular 200lbs with 12% bodyfat and a fat 200lbs with 22% bodyfat but according to the scale they are both the same. It's the same reason the whole BMI thing is such a joke....

How many more calories? Did you track them? If you were eating an excessive amount then its not surprising you would gain weight. You can't go from eating 1500 cals to 2000+ and not gain weight when your body has become accustomed to 1500. You increase slowly so your body adapts.

What healthy foods are you eating? If its the same foods you were posting here, then I wouldn't classify that as healthy. Maybe healthier then what you were eating? Overall I recall a lot of empty calories (other people mentioned the same thing). Lean meats, veges, fruits, whole grains, nuts. These are your staples. Processed foods, high fat/sugar condiments, alcohol, empty calorie foods like chips/pretzels do nothing for you.

Also trying a diet for two weeks and expecting results is asinine. If you're going to increase your calories, do it over the course of a few weeks to a month, then settle in for a month or so. Look at your results after that time, and then adjust accordingly. You can't get enough data from trying something for only two weeks. This is the same reason you don't weigh yourself every day, you can't extrapolate any relevant data because your weight fluctuates daily.

Well I am down to 235(from 275), Just busting my butt at work and eating better. I am half way to my Target weight, 40 down 40 to go. The good news is, the first 40 is the hardest part, I can actually beat my last run time from the Army

Re: Weight Loss - Tips & Daily Check-in

Well week one of what i like to call Operation Hardcore is in the books.

                For the week i did:
                7 cardio sessions (3 x 1 hours walks, 3 x 45 minute runs and 1 x 2 hour bball session)
3 Intense weight sessions (fullbody workouts of just over an hour each)
Healthy eating every meal, no junk food at all
                No alcohol
                Heaps of water every day

And the results for the first week are in: Down 1.3kg (2.8lbs) to 94.4kg (208lbs).

Another 13-14 weeks of this and i'll be in the best shape of my life i think.

                  I'm still around 212

Too much work lol...but seriously. That and poor eating decisions...however I'm surprised by how I still look decent.

I will look awesome if I just stick with it for 3-4 weeks straight...2 weeks is generally my breaking point where I give into my sweet addiction.

I was gonna say cause i am 4 lbs lighter than you but obviously i'm not it in the best shape and aiming for 180 so i figured you must be tall / have a bit of muscle mass to be 212 and pretty lean.

I think 200lbs at 5'11 would be my ideal but i'd need to cut down, do a long clean bulk then maybe another small cut to get to that size but be lean.

O/T: who is that in your avy?

It's a random guy in a google search...after being scolded for not embracing dreads I have seen the light and now realize my life is not complete without dreads in NCAA '11

It's all about your body type. I can bulk up with ease...but cutting is more difficult. I carry most of my fat in my midsection so I need to be a low bf% to have visible abs...which is my superficial goal obviously!

I want to look like AuburnAlumni sans steroids lol...I'm just kidding! But damn he's jacked though...gotta say he puts in the work for his results.

What do you guys do workout wise when you are sick? I have a cold and tonsillitis which is being treated with antibiotics at the moment. You guys think i should just stop working out all together until i am 100% or should i still do my workouts (both weights and cardio)?

I finally found a workout that I really enjoy - tennis. I've been playing quite a bit over the last few days and had a day off today, so I played for nearly five hours. It's great and I can really see myself sticking with it.

I have another "weigh-in" for myself on Thursday. I'm limiting myself to once every two weeks on the scale. I'm hoping to hit 288, which would be three pounds in two weeks. However I'm really hoping for some more loss than that. We'll see on the 1st.

Meanwhile, I'm gonna play some more tennis
