Yeah, I felt the same when I went down from about 260 to where I am now. I'm hoping I can continue down to 210, and then see what I need to do.

I know these numbers don't really mean anything, but my BMI at 210 would still be in the overweight range: 26.2. The Devine formula says my ideal weight is 186. I'm not really sure if I believe that, as 6'3" and 186 just seems weird for me.

The calculator I used is here: http://www.halls.md/ideal-weight/body.htm

After a couple of months of lagging I started my routines over on Thursday. Weighed in at 256 and yesterday I weighed 252. My goal is 230 by September 20th.

I went to the Japanese Steakhouse to celebrate a buddies birthday at lunch and I was able to make the very difficult decision to omit the Egg Yolk Sauce, which is a crazy amount of fat/calories. But man that was tough. I also passed up the fried rice and got steamed rice instead. Trying to make the tough decisions again to get back to losing. I've been stuck at the 255 mark for 2 months.

Re: Weight Loss - Tips & Daily Check-in

Yeah, I went 5 times last week for about 25 minutes each time (lifting weights, no cardio) and this week I went 4 times as well.

In fact this week I really upped my weight lifting as it was week #3 and I seemed to have been able to "up the ante" so to speak in regards to not fearing I'd hurt myself.

I was really surprised I was able to bench press 190 pounds 3 times yesterday. I weigh 255 so I'd love to be able to sometime bench what I weigh. But honestly I haven't benched in so long that I figured i'd be lucky to crack 150. This was on a machine lift, not free weights though.

Oh and I asked for, and got, low sodium soy sauce at the restaurant and people kept taking it. I was persistent though. Trying to eat healthy = welcome the world of exceptions, special requests and being every waitresses general pain in the rear...LOL

Oh btw - next week I'm going to continue with weights and add about 10-15 minutes of cardio back in. My toe is starting to feel where I think I can start adding some cardio back in. Hopefully that will help get the weight loss going again.

You'll definitely lose some weight with cardio. You need to get at least 20 minutes of cardio in every workout if you expect to lose weight. This week I said good bye to the tredmill and went running at one of our high schools, it's been hell but I've managed to lose 4 pounds this week.

Re: Weight Loss - Tips & Daily Check-in

I agree I need to do cardio but I'm going to strongly focus on strength training for awhile while just adding in some cardio. I think i've plateaued now and doing cardio isn't where my focus is. After about 8 to 10 weeks of doing cardio 40 to 50 minutes a day (in different ways too, not just on one machine) so I'm going to try a hybrid, non-stop workout alternating between cardio machines and the weightlifting.

I believe it's called High Intensity Interval Training or HIIT if memory serves. You go like 3 minutes on the bike, go lift a set of weights, 3 more minutes on the bike, another set of weights, 5 minutes on treadmill, weights...etc etc. You don't stop from start to finish and it is not a very long, time-wise, workout.

I did it before when I had a trainer and it really helped to spur me back into losing so I'm giving it another shot.

First time poster here. Been following this thread for a long while, and just decided to post here. Started off at 305 right about when this thread was started, today I am in at 242. Still got a long way to go (I'm 6'0 even).. but I like the way I'm progressing. I haven't really done a ton of cardio in the summer, but I've evened that out with having a job where I do a decent amount of manual labor. And of course, eating a lot better. It's really flying off.

It's tough but worth it. June was horrible for me and part of July was worse. What's funny is I was looking forward to the Summer months because I thought I'd be burning a lot with the heat. No excuses. I can name a few but I know myself. i need to do better.

I'm back at it but it is tough to keep that discipline going.

So this was a week ago. I weighed in yesterday out of the shower and was 214! 4 pounds in one week.

All I've been doing at the gym is one solid hour of cardio going 4 nights a week. The machines say I burn about 725 calories in that hour. I never know if they're actually right or not. But it helps me guage my intensity and gives me a goal to achieve each session. Anything lower and I slouched, anything higher means I worked harder then the last time.

14 pounds more and I'll have acheived my first goal. Then I'm going to mix back in the weights.
