I'm just exhausted at the end of the day.

The two things I notice the most when working out are, I don't suffer from heartburn nearly as bad, and I sleep like a rock! My wife also says I snore less.

Re: Weight Loss - Tips & Daily Check-in

I'm going to jump in on this thread. I've crossed a personal line, and it's time to start thinking about cutting the blubber. I don't have any food addictions, so when I cut back, I tend to go cold turkey on everything across the board. No sauces, no sugar, no butter, very little dairy.

I was being a fool, having a field day out there eating Mickey D's, which I had been off of for several years, eating donuts at night, just going crazy, haha. Not really over eating, but eating poorly and not exercising at all. I made the decision to focus totally on my career, since there was a time when exercising was taking mental energy away from my work. My plan worked, the career turned completely around, but now I'm a little too fat for my own good.

In the past I've been able to flip the switch, start working out pretty heavily and eat properly. After the first two weeks of cardio I stop despising it so much, and I love weight lifting. Only problem with that is I gain upper body muscle mass pretty quickly, so it's smart for me to be more cardio oriented and work with lighter weights when I first get started, to take my body mass down before building muscle.

Still, that's what I have to do, because right now I'm becoming a bit of a fatty. For the first time in probably my entire adult life, I couldn't fit a pair of pants So now that I know I've crossed the line, I'm heading to the gym I joined over a month ago, and buying a bike this week.

I'll post the results. Headed for an egg white, apple slice and orange juice breakfast right now.

Re: Weight Loss - Tips & Daily Check-in

So.....long story short I've been a big guy for most of my life. Luckily after I took in football in middle and and started working out I've looked more like a defensive tackle then a big fat blob. Still I've been wanting to lose the weight for a long time but could never stick to a plan long enough to reach my goals. I swear it's like Oprah the way I'll lose weight and gain it back lol. Since the age of 14, I've been as high as 310-315 and as low as 260, which I got back to two autumns ago.

Currently I'm at 283(6'4"-6'5") and I want to get down to the 240, maybe 230 range by at least Halloween. I'm back in the gym regularly and have been trying to watch what I eat. Problem is that I love to get my snack on late at night and that is not good. I drink a lot of water though and I feel if I can change the eating habits as well as shorten my portions that I can lose a significant amount of weight since I'm still young.

It's going to be a struggle, but what weight loss isn't? I'm actually excited now for the outcome and am ready to do what it takes to achieve success.

I did have Brown-Sugar/Cinnamon Pop-Tarts for breakfast(not sure if that is too good) but that wont be a habit. In a minute like Born I'ma get some lunch, probably a small salad and a cup of soup and water of course.

Thanks, man. I just weighed myself for the first time in a long time. I usually don't go by weight, but rather what kind of overall shape I'm in. I've always been the kind of guy who looks 15-20 lbs lighter than he is. Don't know how that works, but even as a teenager people were always shocked to find out how much I weight. A couple of summers ago, I did a lot of bike riding and dieting and lost a lot of weight. When I went home people thought I was sick, but I was still up near 185-190.

That having been said, I'm about six lbs into too-damned-fat-for-my-own-good, which is about 222. I'm six feet tall and I probably look closer to 210 right now. For now I'm going to overshoot it and put my goal weight to 190, which seems like a pretty big loss on the surface. If I start looking crackheadish, I'll pull it back but for now I'm going to shoot for a lean build rather than a muscular one.

Good to see some other guys checking in. My next weigh-in will be Friday or Saturday and I'm excited for it. I really don't have the discipline to eat great. But I have been watching calories, and exercising decently. My problem is my calories, even though they're numbered right, come from some pretty unhealthy foods.

If I break under 280 for this weigh-in, I'll be extremely happy... we'll see.

Thanks bruh, that reminds me that I actually have some Honey Nut Cheerios at home with some orgranic lowfat milk. Gonna give that a try tomorrow if I get time(hard waking up ya know?)

Actually just finished eating a small salad with tomatoes, red onions, some cheese, and grilled chicken. Used honey mustard dressing but used less than I have been. Also ate some "Navy Beans & Pork?" soup. Wasn't bad, don't know how good it was for me but it didn't give me a 'weighing down' feeling so that's good.

Dinner will probably be grilled chicken and some more salad. I also plan to go to the gym and get my workout on. I usually get on the elliptical or bike for 20-30 mins and then do my lifting. The neighborhood gym I go to has limited facilities but it'll tide me over until I get back school, in which we have a new state-of-the-art facility in the middle of campus.

                  Welcome to the new guys!

I have really fallen off the wagon recently myself. It's no excuse but it's been my 30th birthday so that has meant lots of celebrating, going out to dinner and booze etc.

I haven't really put on much weight (maybe 2-4lbs) but haven't lost anything in a few weeks and haven't been very consistent with my workout's either. I actually feel much less healthy and energetic when i'm like this so it's obvious my body is telling me to wake up and go back to doing good things. I just need to get back into it.

I have similar stats to you Born (i'm 5'11, and around 215ish and want to get down to around 180-190 as well) so we'll have compare progress as we go. GL fellas.

I have had a question that has been bothering me for awhile, How bad is microwavable popcorn. I look at the back of the box for calories and it seems good enough, 35 calories per serving, 3 servings per bag.

I know it has some fat and sodium but other than that it seems pretty good for you.

Wow that is very low cals. 75 cals for the whole bag is nothing. I thought it would have been way higher than that?

It will have heaps of sodium but at 75 cals for a decent snack you could do far worse imo.

I wouldn't say good for you. I'd say not as bad as other stuff you could be eating.

                                Re: POPCORN

I've read I think three separate sources that said Popcorn is an excellent diet snack. Obviously it's not good in terms of nutrition, but if you just find yourself breaking down and need to munch, popcorn is a great alternative.

I'm not the biggest popcorn fan in the world, so I opt for bananas and liquids like protein drinks or just a coffee if I'm not dying.

I'm going strict with no carbs past 7:00 pm. Even when I'm working out, I'm not much of a proportion watcher, but this is the 2nd fattest I've been as an adult, so I'll push it until I regain some sanity around my waist line.
