I suggest you guys read the ebook (it's a very quick read, PM me or Tha_kid if you want a free link to it) if you have any interest in it, some very interesting info there.
Started my fast as of 7pm CST - going strong so far, feeling great after working out and drinking so much damn water

It's really important to set up the fast time for an interval that is comfortable with the schedule. I tried orginally to set it up for 4pm to 4pm, but that would not have worked with my 12-830pm work shift (lunch is at 4 pm).

I enjoyed the ebook - good read, definitely learned some things and its refreshing - definitely shared some ideas with friends who are struggling - but alas, that word "fasting" is highly frowned upon.

Ain't that the truth! I guess there are decades of food advertising working against us.

I wouldn't even bother trying to tell my parents about this. My mother would prob freak out and think i'm turning anorexic or something.

Actually I don't see why they wouldn't be trying to build muscle considering added muscle aids in burning fat.

That is why I keep telling these dudes to stop being so hell bent on their WEIGHT.

But it comes in a bag that I can buy at 7-11 for $2 so I'm not sure if I should be eating it a lot.

          The kind I eat has

          130 calories

          4 grams of fat

          10 grams of carb

          14 grams of protein

It is high in sodium and cholesterol but I'm not worried about my cholesterol at this point in time.
Yeah, it's high in sodium but it's a good snack. It makes me thirsty which isn't a bad thing because the water helps to aid all the sodium intake.

Re: Weight Loss - Tips & Daily Check-in

The problem with sodium for people trying to lose weight is it causes the body to retain water. And when you retain water the body is unable to flush out fat cells as efficiently, therefor it can hinder weight loss. I quit eating salt and switched to a salt substitute, which I really only use on eggs now and nothing else. I also eat almost all frozen vegetables instead of canned ones. When I eat canned vegetables I usually rinse them (not for everything though, for spinach I don't like to rinse it as all the taste leaves when you do so).

I had for breakfast, one egg beater (120), mushrooms (40), lowfat cheese (80), turkey sausage (150), orange juice (75) for 465 calories this morning.

This afternoon I plan to eat fish and vegetables and have a grapefruit for a snack.

Last night I weighed in and had my lowest weigh in years @ 257 pounds....I think the last time I beat that was about 5 years ago when I got to 249..so I'm really closing in now on previous records. Prior to that 249 I think I would have to go back about 13 years to beat that, before my knee surgery when I was about 220, a normal weight.

So if you're looking to lose weight I'd try to cut down on the beef jerky. But then maybe not if it helps you, it's certainly better than eating a lot of other stuff. Like for me I like olives and banana peppers in my salad. I also like pickles. All are really high in sodium but I'm not trying to be perfect. To heck with trying to obtain that, almost every food has some sort of downfall (not all but a lot) so if you're aiming for perfect you're going to fail IMO. I am for better than average, or better than before...that's far more obtainable.

DC - I bought a BMI measuring device so I can quit being so obsessed with my scale. The old one my trainer used on me said I was at 29% BMI but this one says 34.2% which I know is probably not right, but at least i can use it as a comparative measurement again in 6 weeks.

Agreed. Weight naturally fluctuates a bunch (hydration, carbs, etc.) which can be a mental mountain when you're a slave to the scale. The focus should be on fat loss instead of weight loss. I'd suggest picking up a handheld bodyfat calculator or getting a caliper to measure bf% every couple of weeks. Calipers can be tricky to get a consistent measurement but if you're over "acceptable" percentages (i.e. 13-17% for a guy) then a scale or handheld device will be accurate enough to gauge progress.

If you're losing weight but you're bodyfat is the same, you're not going to be as happy with the new you as you could be IMO.

@ Jonesy & Matt - Yes, the term fasting often garners doubtful looks and advice to do the opposite.

Well i had 2 pieces of fish, some grapes and a sugar free appleasauce for lunch.

I did 636 calories on the elliptical @ 45 minutes today.

I placed 2nd @ the gym in weight loss with a 7 pound loss in 3 weeks (the other guys didn't show up for the weigh in the last couple of weeks, we normally do it week to week) BUT 3 pounds of that was due to changing scales so I really only lost 4 pounds in 3 weeks. The first place guy lost 9 pounds (but really it was 6 pounds).

anyways, i'm back to not being depressed now. i'm neutral now, lol, that's my mood. I think you guys are right that we need to just look at the big picture. when i get angry or depressed i'm not in danger of quitting, just trying to tweak things. sometimes you just have to stay the course and not tweak anything though. i realize that but find it hard to put into practice.

I makes no difference if you eat 7, 5, 3, or 1 meal per day. Numerous studies have shown it has no affect on metabolism.
even if you are right, you're ignoring a very important fact

it is much easier for the body to burn carbs than it is to burn fat. By eating many small meals, your body will naturally burn off those carbs you take in from food, without any of them being converted into fat. However when you only eat one large meal in a day, your body can not handle all those carbs at once and as a result many of them will inevitably turn into fat because you couldnt metabolize them quick enough. Then when they do turn into fat, it's going to take a whole lot more work to get rid of them than if you had burned them off while they were still carbs.

not to mention, by eating lots of small meals your stomach can actually shrink, making you feel fuller quicker.

Having access to something like that whenever you want is serving the same purpose. Something you will constantly run to and when it doesn't give you what you want to see it MAY cause you to go to extreme measures (over working, under eating to name a few).

I am sure there is one at your local gym where you can use it twice a month.

Yea I've seen all of his videos. He's more suited for the larger women crowd that are trying to lose weight slowly. The scale never lies. I use the scale exactly how he says not to. If I'm heavy on the scale, then I'll go lighter on my next meal. The scale never lies.

He's got good info, it's just not suited for me.
