Re: Weight Loss - Tips & Daily Check-in

I'm going to control myself tonight, but I did a lot of research this week on pizza in NY and who does it right..blah blah blah...

Anyway, it all put me in the mood for making some pizza. Cant' wait.

GIGGAS - that's where I took Stefanie last weekend but it was so busy we couldn't get a table in time to see the movie later that night so we had to leave.

ScottDau - yeah i'm doing lighter weights, just wanted to see if i could still do the heavier weights. At one time I was benching 200 but honestly I struggled today with 155...no way could I do 200 now..

That is because you lost weight. Believe it or not when you are fatter you can lift more weight. Now that you are slimming down, you will have trouble with that same weight.

I've found that to be true. When i was 20lbs heavier i was lifting 220lbs for sets on bench now i'm flat out lifting that a few times. Mind you i stopped working out as much as well so that's probably as big a reason for it.

I've had a great 24 hours diet/exercise wise. I'm staying at my mother and father in law's while i'm working away from home for a few days. Yesterday i finished work at 5.30pm and went straight back to their place, got changed, fired up the ipod and had a great hour long walk/run. Had a healthy dinner and didn't overeat like i usually do at the inlaws (my mother in law is an awesome cook!).

Set the alarm and got up at 5.30 this morning and went to the office i work in for the few days which is in a physio center that has a small gym (just heaps of free weights but no bench etc.) Hit it hard for an hour.

            Basically did:
100 pushups (split into lots of 15-20)
            200 situps (lots of 50)
            40 curls
            40 o/h should press
            40 kickbacks
            40 squats
            75 calf raises

Really worked up a sweat and kept the rest periods low.

            Today's food is:

1 piece of toast + 3 eggs, glass of skim milk (they were tiny) for breakfast + coffee.

assorted unsalted nuts for morning snack

lunch is a lamb sandwich with lettuce, tomato, low fat cheese.

            Apple for afternoon snack

Dinner should be something healthy when i get home tonight.

Nice job on the win at fat loss club (plus with Stephanie ) O! Be careful you don't fall into the whole "i've got a partner now so i can stop working out" trap that happens to so many of us.

Have you ever tried doing dumbbell presses instead of bench press? Maybe start off with 30-40 pounds and try to do sets of 10 or 15. It's a really good alternative to bench press.

The key is to lift, what I mean about that is your body get used to balancing the weight, so you will be able to lift more after awhile. But if you are a fat guy you can lift a lot too. Fat is still bulk.

I was doing this for awhile. I was starting out with 55 and going up to 75. I would do pyramids. I got really strong, but I got so used to balancing the weight that way that when I went to a flat bar bench press I couldn't do that much. Most of the reason was because I was doing 75lbs on each side which is only 150lbs. When I try to lift 220 flat ball, I was lost.

Only if you are losing more muscle then fat which is something you don't want to do.

It could just be your calorie intake is too low so your energy is low as well. When I used to body build, I would not lose strength until the last 2 weeks before a show when my calorie intake was way low.

Well after missing my 345 mark I weighed myself today and was 343.8 somehow. I triple checked it and it ranged from 343.0 to 343.8 so I hit my mark a day late..I don't see how I could lose that much, maybe it's water weight as well.

Started my morning off with a whole grain muffin with 1 slice low fat american cheese and two turkey sausage patties (1 serving)..

Last night, I had a lean pocket with some tortilla chips last night to finish out the day at about 1600 calories.

This morning I had some ore ida unsalted fries w/some ketchup this morning for breakfast, i need to get to the store as you guys might be able to tell, LOL. so 175 calories so far today (140 for the fries + 35 for ketchup).

i'm going to try to eat minimal amount today as i'm going to dinner tonight and will be eating a chicken salad w/a side of chili and don't want to go over my calories.

Back on the elliptical today. The weight lifting is nice but I don't feel as I get quite the exercise "high" from it that I do the intense cardio (that rush of oxygen). I'll still keep doing it at least twice a week though.
