Re: Weight Loss - Tips & Daily Check-in

I can barely move today i am so sore from my workout yesterday.

Note to self: don't stop lifting regularly because when you go back to it it hurts like a bitch!

Re: Weight Loss - Tips & Daily Check-in

Jumped rope today for 20 minutes, but not consecutively. Crazy-good workout. I probably jumped for about 12 of those minutes and was winded/pouring with sweat after that time. I now have a goal of being able to do sets of 3 minutes at a time without stopping over a duration of 30-45 minutes with 1 minute breaks in-between.

The most I could do with both feet at once was 100 jumps in a row and I thought my calves were going to pack up there stuff and move out of my legs. Felt it a little in the muscles right above my knees, also. The only two variations I did were jumping with both feet at a time, then kind of jump/walking one foot at a time the length of a basketball court and back. After each down and back I had to take a breather. Good stuff.

Yeah jumping rope kicks *** for cardio, boxers do a heap of it so you know it's got to be good for building stamina etc.

i'm going to try to eat minimal amount today as i'm going to dinner tonight and will be eating a chicken salad w/a side of chili and don't want to go over my calories.

Back on the elliptical today. The weight lifting is nice but I don't feel as I get quite the exercise "high" from it that I do the intense cardio (that rush of oxygen). I'll still keep doing it at least twice a week though.
Odogg you eat at a calorie deficit but you are eating such empty calories.

Lean pocket? Fries w/ ketchup? Tortilla chips?

Where is the fiber, protein, and whole grains? Where are the healthy nutrients to fuel your body?

Just my observation. Hey if it works for you go right ahead though.

I'm trying to get back into things. I'm still at 213-215.

            Here's what I ate today:
Shake - 1 scoop casein, 2 tbsp natty PB, .5 cup oatmeal, 10 oz skim milk, 1 tbsp sugar free fat free choc jell-o pudding mix

            Two protein bars (snacks)

1 marinated chicken breast with some whole grain pasta and light sauce

2 turkey burgers w/cheese on the thin 100% whole wheat buns

            1 banana

I've ordered a supplement called Greens Plus. I hate eating vegetables so I'm going to use this daily. It's 5 servings of veggies in 3 tbsp. As you can see veggies are lacking in my diet right now. I should get the stuff by Friday.

The buns I eat...I love them!

Yeah, it is tough to lose weight without the proper nutrients. In fact, eating a calorie deficit with empty calories may kill your metabolism causing your body to hang onto its fat because it thinks you are starving.

                EDIT:

Here is what I ate yesterday: NOTE: I eat the same thing M-F for all meals except dinner.

7:30: 1 cup of egg whites, 2/3 serving of turkey sausage, 1 pack of Quaker Double Fiber Oatmeal, Grapes
11:30: 4 oz Turkey Breast, 1 slice of fat free cheese, 2 slices of light whole wheat bread, small side salad
                3:00: Protein Shake, 1 apple
6:30: 6 oz Chicken Breast, 1 can of Green Beans, 1 serving of Fat Free Gravy
9:00 1 Serving of Kashi Go-lean cereal with a 1/2 cup of Skim Milk

Re: Weight Loss - Tips & Daily Check-in

Didn't I post I needed to get to the store you guys? LOL, I know the stuff i'm eating lately needs to be better. Last night I took my g/f out and had an 8 ounce sirloin with mushrooms, a baked potato with some butter and a small chili. Today I weighed in and i'm dead even for the week. So I'll be going to the store after work tonight.

Today I had a granola bar and a can of chicken with hot sauce for breakafast (180 calories)

                    2 Carrot sticks for a snack (20)

For lunch: Livesmart Enchilada dinner (370) + broccoli & cauliflower (50) and for desert sugar free applesauce (60) = total for today 680

It's been somewhat harder now that I'm with another person to eat perfectly. My g/f is a little overweight so I don't want to be preachy about what we eat (and thus imply negatively about her even if that's not my intent) but I don't want to be a filthy little pig at the dinner table either.

It's like last night she wanted to do the steakhouse. I would normally do Subway. But cmon, I'm not going to ask my g/f to go to Subway for dinner. LOL! With that being said my choices last night weren't bad, I got the sirloin, the leanest cut of meat, the potato with a minimal amount of butter and the small chili...but still more than Subway.

With that being said I'm getting a lot of "exercise" now on the weekends I didn't get before, LOL.

Any of you guys in my situation got any ideas about how to approach all of this? I figured for Friday night instead of going out for Pizza I would buy the stuff to make a homemade pizza and we could do it together. It'd be fun I think and we could eat healthier than eating pizza out. Plus much more economical too. I think that's my biggest idea so far about all of this is cooking some healthy meals together, would help her and me both in learning how to cook better meals, have some fun, eat less calories and not cost as much as eating out all the time.

I had a sip of Coke today for the first time in a while and I really noticed how sweet that stuff is. I really like to keep things balanced, meaning I don't like to go extremes and claim I'll never eat a certain food again etc. However, more and more I'm beginning to taste things differently, especially with salt and sugar.
Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.

I'm 100% with you, saying "I will never eat xxxx again" sets yourself up for failure. And when you do fail then you feel immense guilt. Then you probably will give up, even if temporarily. I never say never and I never rule out any food or drinks no matter how bad.

3rd Day of the p90x now and doing ok. I have been weighing myself when I wake up and before bed, and it has varied between 200 and 208, sometimes 8 and 4 lbs swings between each measurement.

As for diet they have you eating so much that I feel like I am eating constantly, and often eating is a chore to knock out the requirements (protein and veggies specifically). It is low carbs and the workouts, even only doing what I can, are high intensity. I am completely sore right now and have the Shoulders and Arms workout, as well as the ab ripper x. Each of the aforementioned areas are entirely sore. So we will see how it goes. The previous two workouts (Chest and Back, Plyometrics) were unbelievably intense so hopefully this is a bit of a break, but I doubt it.

And could you guys let me know how the green supplement is? Right now for a lot of my vegetable servings I am downing cups of low sodium V8, and it is horrid lol.

that would def. help me out as cigs make me hurl. but then it'd be cheaper and more effective probably just to work on a full blown eating disorder, LOL
