    I agree completely.

While I don't agree with how animals are treated, I eat meat, pause.

    It's not that I 'can't' stop, I don't want to stop. I guess I'm uneducated, though.

I've shifted towards buying meat that comes from grass fed animals and free range chickens...and wild caught fish.

I feel it in the wallet!

I'm sorry but I just can't say no to this.

          Or this

Or even this for that matter.

People worry a lot about how the animals are treated, rightfully so; how many people worry about where their products come from?

I'm sure many of you own some type of Apple product, and with the news lately of the sweatshops and such, do you not feel the same?

If not, do you at least accept your hypocrisy?

I don't put much stock into the BMI. If that chart is true, pretty much every professional athlete is overweight. I'm not talking about the lineman either. I am talking 6'3" 225. If that's overweight, I'll take it.

I am 28.8 on BMI, which puts me overweight. According to the chart I should be between 115 and 154 though. 145/150 is the weight I would like to get too, at least to get the fat off, so maybe so...

Pretty hilarious.. The GF and I were coming back from skiing up in Wisconsin. We decided to take a lunch break at Golden Corral.. 10 minutes into the place, she mentions.. man, there sure is alot of heavier people in here.

Honestly, other than the workers, we were the skinniest people there.

Would it be "too much" to demand that each student has to participate in 1 sport per year to complete that grade level?

Sadly, for many kids as well as their parents, yes.

As far as I am concerned, my kids will be involved in some type of athletic activity without question. I won't force a sport on them, but they will be involved in something.

At 6'8" 235 I'm just on the edge of overweight at 25.8 BMI. I can see a decent amount of my abs, don't think "overweight" people can.
BMI is not a joke....its a screening tool and over groups of people/populations (not one given person) it is helpful. People with increased BMI, in general, have higher rates of heart attacks, strokes, diabetes, etc. Of course not EVERY person but as a whole. Its a quick screening tool, its likely not accurate/quick/cost effective to measure everyones body fat. But its quick and easy to get a height and weight.

I mean seriously, how many people who are 5'9" and >205 who are ripped? A few, no doubt, but most are just obese, hence the validity of the BMI.

When the majority of people say this, they are simply saying they enjoy meat and would prefer to live a life with it rather than without it. There is nothing uneducated about that. People prefer to live their life with things they enjoy. I don't believe that anyone truly thinks that if meat ceased to exist, the population would fall to zero.

It'd be the same if someone said they couldn't live without sex, music, video games, golf, football, internet, etc.

Gun to someones head, over course they are going to give up meat, but most people aren't going to do it voluntarily when they can live a perfectly healthy lifestyle with it. People make life decisions for several reason, some for survival, some for beliefs and sometimes just to prove they can do something.

The third statement you listed ("I wouldn't get enough protein if I didn't eat meat anyway!"), is really the only truly uneducated statement of the three.

I agree. While none of my electronics are made here cuz you couldn't find any anyway everything else I buy is made here. I'm obsessed with made in USA. My jeans cost $125 cuz I found some small company in New Jersey. All my boxers are around $20 from a company in Maine. My wife hates my obsession but I tell her that the tax payers pay for my paycheck so I owe it to them to give it back. I only have 2 exceptions to my made in USA rule. 1. Anything you can't buy made here 2. Sports stuff.

Do you really care where I sent this from?

I get what your saying, but all three statements (in a verbatim sense) are pretty uneducated in my opinion.

                              1. "Oh, I could never be a vegetarian."

                              False.

                              Of course you COULD.

                              2. "I just love meat too much."

                              False.

It is impossible to LOVE an inanimate object. Like, yes. Love, no. Unless you happen to be clinically insane. Steve Carell's "I love lamp" line from the Anchorman comes to mind.

                              3. "I wouldn't get enough protein if I didn't eat meat anyway!"

                              The falsest of them all.

Scientific research has proven this one to be absolute BS.

I have no issue with what other people choose to eat or drink or what have you, that's not my issue. My issue is with people saying they can't do things they don't want to do or won't even try to do in the first place. That's pretty much it.

I have way more of an issue with cigarette smoking than other people's diets anyway, since that still harms my body through the decisions of others even though I made a conscience decision not to do it myself.
