Re: 2015 FITNESS CHALLENGE
I totally disagree. I strictly just did regular pushups, with mixes of widths and clap pushups as my arm workouts and got considerably stronger and more defined as I was able to increase the number. Also the duration helps increases the strength in your core as your engaging it the entire time.
I also do yoga arm balances and the duration of the holds increased as I got stronger as well as my stamina increased when I go kayaking.
I don't even know why I'm responding, you're just trolling right now.Comment

Re: 2015 FITNESS CHALLENGE
I'm currently doing a mass building microcycle from Bodybuilding.com
I am constantly on the go as I am a college student and I work full time so it is hard for me to eat a lot and keep it strictly healthy. Do you guys have any advice to help me get bigger? I am only 5'9 and 160ish currently but I'm trying to be around 175Cleveland Browns

What works for Herschel Walker is not necessarily the best thing for everybody. The guy is gifted genetically. He eats 1 meal (dinner) a day consisting of bread, salad, and soup. That is not a good plan for anybody. He also is in fantastic shape despite not touching any weights. You're not going to look like him if you follow his routine of a million situps, pushups, and pullups.
As a normal person you're much better off training in reasonable ranges of repetitions that challenge yourself and eating well rounded meals throughout the day.
Herschel Walker does everything wrong and it works because he is a freak. Or maybe even a liar. He claims to have dissociative identity disorder. Maybe the other Herschel follows a reasonable fitness plan.Last edited by Antec; 05-30-2015, 12:07 PM.Comment

Re: 2015 FITNESS CHALLENGE
First half-marathon is in the books! I did great for 10 miles, then hit a wall just before Mile 11, so finishing was tough but I got through it. Conditions were great (sun, temps in the 50's) but the course was challenging with a lot of hill climbs in the beginning and then rolling hills through the middle and end sections.
I finished in 2:10.42. For my first half and the course, I am pleased with my time. It was certainly an experience to run that far. Looking forward to relaxing the rest of the day; I'll post up a photo with my medal later on.Attached FilesLast edited by DJ; 05-31-2015, 01:19 PM.Currently Playing:

Re: 2015 FITNESS CHALLENGE
Used to be 230lbs in the beginning of 2014, got down to 190 by around June or July then I got to 170 in like October and sadly been maintaining that same weight. But they do say muscle outweighs fat. At max though I used to be 260lbs I went down to 190 then just playing basketball at InShape in my area in California but I ended up going back to that dreaded 230lbs when I moved to the Philippines for college. I cut down by dieting and doing a lot of cardio and heavy lifting.
This is my 2014 to 2015 from a 10k run a month back.
My real goal is 150lbs though. 20-15 more lbs to go. I maintain a 170-165 range atm and I'm trying my hardest in the gym busting my *** to get there. Want to get there before my graduation pictures in November and so I can be ripped when I go back home to California after I graduate in April.Comment

Re: 2015 FITNESS CHALLENGE
Now that I've finished the half-marathon, I plan on doing more cycling. I am hoping to ride to work 2-3 days a week (16 miles round-trip). I'm also going to get back in the gym and strength train 2-3 days a week. I think cutting that out of my weekly routine hurt me a little in the race last week.Currently Playing:

Cycling...yep....can do
Running....I don't know how you guys do it.
But believe it or not....I just joined the crappiest gym on the planet....just to use their treadmills and other fitness machines(not their weights or weight machines...wouldn't want to set off an alarm)
I know....I feel dirty doing it....but I neglect my cardio too much.

For $10/month, nothing wrong with using that gym for what you envision, Knight.
I went 10-plus years without running or really doing much in the way of cardio, outside of pickup basketball games and elliptical machines. I basically just lifted heavy weights and trained BJJ and Muay Thai.
I ran cross country in Jr. High and High School and definitely burned myself out. I started up in 2009 just to do something different and thought it would be fun to do with the dog we had at the time. I started out slow, going for a mile to 1.5 miles. I remember the first time going over 2 miles and thinking I had accomplished something. A few months later I ran a 5K and have been going along steadily since then.
What's great about running for me now is that there's no pressure to be great or to help my team win. I run because it makes me feel good and I enjoy it. Sure, there are always certain time barriers/goals you have in mind but if you don't hit them, so what? I missed a sub-2:00 half-marathon last week and I couldn't care less. When I look back at where I started, I've come a long way. The experience last week was amazing and I'm so glad I did it. The feeling I had when I crossed the finish line was something I haven't experience in a long time.
The same holds true for cycling. I never thought I'd get into it, but after mountain biking for several years, I decided to give it a try and I really enjoy it. Being able to commute to work is an added bonus. Thankfully where I shop, the employees don't look down on people like me that ride for fun and aren't interested in spending over $1,000 on a bike. Sorry, but I'll never be that guy. Have I bought some Lycra, clipless pedals and shoes? You bet. But, I didn't brake the bank on any of those purchases and manage to get along just fine.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that everyone should find the activities in life they enjoy and go out and do them. For me, it's running and biking, for others it's rock climbing or surfing. thats the beauty of exercise, there is no one size fits all approach.
Not sure where all of this came from, guess I just felt like writing today.Currently Playing:

Re: 2015 FITNESS CHALLENGE
Knight,
I'm not surprised you are rocking your neon spandex at the purple and gold gym where they offer you bagels and pizza. They might as well just put a cafeteria in the middle and get rid of the workout equipment!
I had a membership at one for about 3 weeks lol. It was embarrassing.SOS Madden League (PS4) | League Archives
