Sounds like the old "it burns so that means it's working" logic lol. It's probably just the fact that your body/immune system is still handling the first shot in some capacity, and then you add more to the equation. Supposedly it's adding more protection even a month+ out.

Going back to the 2nd vaccine side effects. Sounds like many have had bad 2nd dose side effects, some seems to be on and off for days or even beyond. People seem to suggest that worse side effects means the vaccine is really working.
Although for me, mine were real minor for just over 24 hours after (most of which were just related to the shoulder pain, such as my back being sore since I had to sleep at awkward angles), but really nothing bad.
I wonder if less side effects are good or bad.
Then again, I'm not someone who often got sick to begin with, so perhaps my body has already been good at fighting things off.
also I admit I don't know about such things but I still would think it's better to have no side effects, as not all medicines causes side effects, and even if they do still work
also, FWIW, I feel like I didn't need the shot to stay healthy but my hope was to add to the numbers to prove it's safe to get the shot if you think you may be susceptible with preexisting conditionsOSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

Both times I had very little symptoms. 2nd one did last longer, but even that wasn't extreme. Minus having a lack of energy the next day (not so much tired, just having no real energy, but still able to do things as normal), it wasn't so bad thankfully.
Speaking of "it burns so it must mean it's working", I feel that way with mouthwash. I hate the real intense ones, but I hate the ones with 0 "burn" either, I need to at least feel something.Comment

I had the Moderna back in April but the second shot didn't affect me anywhere to the degree the first shot did, and the worst thing for me with the first shot was my arm was terribly sore until the Wednesday after my shot on a Saturday

Did you have covid? Everyone at the school i teach at who had covid felt awful after the first dose, everyone else had nothing but a sore arm.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

First dose of moderna was worse for me too. Didn't last more than a day besides the sore arm but had fever, chills, etc. 2nd dose felt a little crappy but thats it.

I know someone who probably got covid last year (I say probably since they never got tested, but this was in the early days when nobody knew anything and even then you still just assumed it was the flu) and they said side effects for them with the vaccine were fairly bad. Seemed almost surprising to them that I was fine less than 48 hours after getting mine.Comment

Late night drivers...they're a different kind of stupid.
For the last 5 minutes I could swear the city was in the middle of some nascar event.
Amount of different loud engines going off was insane.
Surely police have ears and can just follow these noises + follow the tips of people who are sure to call in and complain. It amazes me how many things seemingly go unpunished when happening at night.
Funny thing, a park near me has traffic cops patrolling the area (it's free parking, but a 2 hour limit), but the road to get to the parking lot is filled with skid marks. More emphasis is put on giving tickets to people for spending too much time at a park in the daytime over stopping people who use the park as a racetrack at night.Comment

This was another favorite show line I got wrong, I though Jim was saying "bears beat battlestar gallactica", like it was a competition

Re: Off-Topic
I read some article stating that "over 50% of calls people receive are spam". I mean, it's technically correct, but I feel like that number is well above 50%, probably closer to 90% than 50%.
I basically ignore all phone calls. Anyone I know who needs to contact me does so through text on WhatsApp. So I know if my phone does ring, it's a 99% chance that it's spam.
I do want to know the purpose of spam calls on voicemail. They literally fill up my voicemail at times just calling, leaving a message saying "hello? Hello? Hello?" or it's a blank message which somehow ends up counting as a voicemail. What's the purpose of leaving voicemails if that's what the message is? At least the scam artists leave the good old robotic "Call us back asap, if you don't, we have a right to issue a warrant for your arrest."Last edited by Majingir; 06-22-2021, 05:13 PM.Comment

I've gotten (what I assume to be) junk calls in (what I assume to be) Mandarin before.
Jokes on them, you can't fall for anything if you don't know what they're saying.

Lol, newest infomercial I saw today. It's some cooling air thing you wear around your neck to help cool down outside without needing to hold anything.
The reason people may need it? Because holding those small handheld fans is a major chore, and apparently another major common issue is when you hose yourself down, it could lead to the hose shooting full blast at your face and basically drown you.
It's basically
I wonder what it's like working at one of those places which make infomercials. Do you just brainstorm every ridiculous idea ever and just say yes to all?Last edited by Majingir; 06-26-2021, 01:44 PM.Comment
