Me too. I just assumed something like Kevlar would hold up a lifetime. Had no idea they have an expiration date.

I've zero clue, but I would imagine it's one of those "just in case" safety regulations because of potential life or death situations. If there's even a tiny chance that something could fail due to time passing from the date of initial manufacture/certification, you don't use it.

You are right. The approach I mentioned could be used by people who otherwise do not have the financial means to support going on and getting kevlar at its current price. Better something than nothing at all.

Also, I have tested expired kevlar several times and found that it holds up well far beyond expiration. I also have always taken good care of my vests, though. Some people throw them around and allow them to bend, collapse or compress in ways that may stress the material. The panels could have varying dependability depending on past care.

Seems like a bunch of celebs are "quietly" staying away from social media and/or deleting their social media history, and of course the internet is all speculating about the whole Diddy stuff...

Obviously I won't go into details due to the TOS, but this could get real ugly all around. One of many reasons people shouldn't be looking up to/glorifying celebs.

It's hard to believe this is still a thing in the year 2024 but I guess old cultural habits die hard...

One thing mass media/social media/internet has exposed is how vacuous and moronic most "celebrities" are. I count this as a (rare) win for the internet.

True, but now people are fixated on people who are famous for social media content. We replace Diddy with some viral nonsense meme celebrity. People are still dumb enough to conflate fame with something impressive/substantive.

I just hate how nobody can host the Oscars anymore without getting "canceled" from something on social media.

I don't know what I posted in the past that would get me "canceled," but I'm sure it exists and I'm sure I regret having it now (or I'm sure it doesn't matter, and I was just young and stupid, but even still).

If you say (or post) enough things, you are bound to rub somebody the wrong way. 8 billion people on the planet, even if one tenth of one percent don't like you, that's a whole hell of a lot of people.

Cancelling isn’t a real thing, at least not enough to justify how often it’s used. There are a few exceptions of people who actually do some pretty ****ty stuff that comes to light, but the vast, vast majority of cases boil down to hyper-online weirdos whining on social media for a little bit. Who even cares.

I've been searching the last half-hour, because I have nothing to do with my life.

Best I could find was when I posted that I had drafted Aaron Hernandez in my fantasy league (one month after his arrest), and I put a hashtag that said #killerhands. I mean, it's whatever.

If someone wants to pick apart my life and try and "cancel" me because of something insipid as that (honestly I hate the term), then perhaps I'm not cut for the celebrity life as is.

I think if you want to find the worst of what I've had to say online, it would be here on OS.

You should be safe. I mean, Tom Brady did the one about the Patriots having a low bar to clear to be a New England TE after Hernandez, ''Catch, block, don't murder'', and he lived to tell the tale.

I know seeing Christmas stuff in September isn't uncommon, but now I see stores hyping up their Christmas stuff "coming soon" to stores in October.

So not only do you have it so early, you're hyping it up and counting down to the countdown.

That reminds me, I got the Walmart Christmas toy catalog in the mail today. Thought that seemed a little early.
