I am convinced most or a lot of us has had it cuz we had a bug with the same symptoms go around here back in January/February.

11+ years on the job and virtually every policy change has been to weaken laws and make the system friendlier to criminals.

Also you analogy is one assuming the legality of whatever action you're referencing.

I personally don't believe that traffic safety checkpoints are constitutional but the Supreme Court has deemed them constitutional. I don't participate in them due to this belief. My point being: my viewpoint that they are unconstitutional doesn't make them factually unconstitutional.

Yup......this thing has been going around since like December, not March when we starting shutting things down.

We had a flu bug go around here as well in like jan/feb, it took out 3/4 of my sons grade 2 class in like a week (late February), Me and my wife were talking about it and now looking back it wouldn’t surprise us if it was the virus....

This is a classic example of correlation vs causation. Obviously, there's more pollution in more populated areas and more people are going to get infected in populated areas because there are more people.

A person who died at home in Santa Clara County on Feb. 6 was infected with the coronavirus at the time of death, a stunning discovery that makes that individual the first recorded COVID-19 fatality in the United States, according to autopsy results released by public health officials late Tuesday.

That death — three weeks before the first fatality was reported in the U.S., in Washington state on Feb. 28 — adds to increasing evidence that the virus was in the country far earlier than once thought.

Santa Clara County on Tuesday announced three previously unidentified deaths from the coronavirus: the Feb. 6 case, plus one on Feb. 17, which also pre-dates the earlier first fatality, and one on March 6. Initially, the first death in the county had been reported March 9.

People typically die of COVID-19 about a month after they are infected with the coronavirus, suggesting that the person who died Feb. 6 likely was infected in early January.

I read that this morning on twitter. This actually makes me optimistic - because IF it has been here a little longer than we think, IS IT POSSIBLE that people were getting sick back in, say December, with symptoms that mirror Covid-19 - and had the ability to stave it off after a hard fight. We just didn't know then. My whole family, for example - wife and 3 teenage kids - all got very sick and each missed school and work. We were told it's "a strain of the flu" but no one was really sure. However, it didn't look like the flu. Each of them had bronchial issues, high fevers (our middle son spiked at near 104 degrees), and much coughing. I never got sick.

My only point is this: maybe this is further along than we know. And I see that as a good thing because it's possible more people have had it than previously known, more have built up immunity against it, and we can now proceed forward with more knowledge. Caution, yes...most definitely.

I believe Wuhan officials knew much more than they're saying. I believe many people left that city (as what - 12 million live there?) and that China was already preparing for this before any of us knew. That story this morning, in my estimation, sheds hope on this situation, and I hope other states will allow autopsies to be conducted to see if there's an underlying development.

I'm fairly confident COVID-19 has been around for longer than reported and that my family got it. Something started going around in my gym in early February (small 2K sq ft facility with ~140 members), I caught it and it spread to a few other people, we all had the same symptoms; cough, fever and were completely wiped out/drained of energy. Some of us including myself who is healthy was completely bed-ridden for 3 days. And the cough just lingered for weeks before it went away.

I don’t know what to think. I do feel like people think there’s just one coronavirus, when it’s a family of viral, respiratory diseases. Folks may have survived a more mild strain. The thinking that oh I already got what I think was it is dangerous. False sense of security.

Good luck to the states reopening soon. I thought the CDC recommendations for phases rolled out in 14 day periods depending on cases continuing to decline seemed reasonable and responsible. It’s a plan, at least.

Returning to normalcy is a delicate situation. This is essentially a big ole science experiment with infinite variables. Hoping for the best.

I definitely lean closer to caution than jumping right back in. An extra week or two isolated, we’ll survive economically. We go back out a week or two early, people die. That’s why I err on that side.

New York was so long ago. Maybe it didn’t actually happen. Maybe it’s just been the flu all along.

I didn't want to be "that guy" when all of this started, so I didn't say anything.

But back in January, my wife and I came down with a terrible bug that we thought was the flu or a severe cold. We were both sick for over a week.

Surprisingly, my two kids didn't get it, even though they were around us a lot.

Now that this information is out, it does make me wonder if we had the virus.

Re: CDC Officials Warn of Coronavirus Outbreaks in the United States.

It's interesting seeing all of these reports in this thread; in February all 4 of my kids got really sick. Fever, lethargy, complained of not being able to breath (they kept describing it as if someone was sitting on their chest). We took them to the doctor multiple times...they all were negative for flu and strep. We were told it was just the crud; eventually it turned into pneumonia for 3 of the 4. After this my wife and I both got hit; I was so sick for 3 days that I felt like I wanted to die....I couldn't even stand up.

Fast forward to all of the virus stuff happening; 3 of our local friends have been diagnosed/tested positive with the virus. In all 3 cases we had been exposed during their "asymptomatic" period, yet it's been 5 weeks now and we are all healthy. Furthermore, one of the friends who was diagnosed is my wife's best friend; her son was really sick at the same time our kids were and she took him to the doctor 4 times, yet was told he just had the crud. Today she got a call from the state informing her that in reviewing his case, they are now diagnosing him as a COVID-19 patient based on all of his symptoms.

Bottom line...I'm fairly certain at this point we (my family) all have had it and it doesn't sound like we are the only ones.

There will be a lot of wondering about "did I...?" until there is widespread access to reliable antibody testing.

I think I mentioned this earlier in the thread, but in mid/late-Feb had something I thought was food poisoning. Lasted about 3 days, which would be unusual for food poisoning in my experience. Also unusual for food poisoning is that not everyone who dined out with me got sick, even though some others had the same exact meal. The symptoms were not "classical" COVID-19 and more GI, but I've also read there can be a variety of symptoms. Two other family members (whom I am closest with...we were gathered for a funeral) also got sick.

The fact that the symptoms can vary, and that there are other illnesses means that there's really no way to know without testing.
