Nah, wasn’t meant to be about him specifically, but I’m guessing based on your other posts that some of your arguments would be similar to the claims he makes. If not, meh. Good context for people to have either way.

over the last 3 months I've worn probably at least a dozen different masks and my 2 main problems with them are my rather bulbous head keeps breaking the ear strings and my glasses getting fogged to where I cant see. I was usually moving on to a different mask every 2-3 days but no more. I finally have one that gets the Official Caulfield Seal of Approval. Mission. the best thing is it's the mask with benefits: no strings attached. I've already been wearing it twice as long as any other mask I've tried the last 3 months. little over a week and change. while I dont actually need one because I dont have covid, hopefully it will put senior citizens who are strangers at ease since they dont know me from Adam's houseboat. they are a little pricey at over $21 with tax but these things are multifunctional and are great for yardwork. you can wet them and they help keep you cool. I think D'Wade & Serena Williams are both a couple of the co-founders. if you are like me and have tried many masks w/o finding the perfect one but would still like to alleviate older peoples wariness, I highly recommend. I found mine at Walmart last week and I'll wind up getting one more next week, just 'cause. no more broken strings for me and as for fogging up my glasses I've learned the best way to combat is inhale deeply and that dissipates my glasses back to normal. on the downside, I admit I now sound like Darth Vader when breathing but well worth any peace of mind it brings the vulnerable

And it's back to the future:

        CORONAVIRUS CALIFORNIA
Gov. Newsom asks one SoCal county to shut back down amid COVID-19 surge
The positivity rate in Imperial County is approaching 23%, Gov. Gavin Newsom warned. As coronavirus cases continue to surge in parts of California, Gov. Gavin Newsom advised leaders in Imperial County to reinstate a stay-at-home order.

The county, which is on the state's border with Mexico, is seeing an exceptionally high positivity rate, or the proportion of people being tested that return a positive result for COVID-19. The 14-day average positivity rate is approaching 23% in Imperial County, Newsom warned.

For reference, the seven-day positivity rate in California as a whole is 5.7%.

Well this isn't going away anytime soon...

          POSSIBLE NEGATIVES FROM NO MASKS
          - Parts of country stay "shut down"
          - Return to normalcy takes longer
          - Disease proliferation
          - People dying

          POSSIBLE NEGATIVES FROM MASKS
          - Being labeled a sheep
          - Nothing

Can we get a little perspective please [emoji2365]

So, what to do folks want to do for the next 3 months?

What's the magic number of weeks/months to stay locked down to prevent cases from going up when you reopen? Particularly in places that never had a first surge, like CA, Florida, Texas, etc.

Everyone should blame China. No matter if it was the wet markets, or it escaped from a lab, China is to blame.

You could shelter people in place for a year, and as soon as people went out it would start spreading, barring a vaccine that is 100% proof. Viruses don't just magically go away.

We know it originated in China, yes. But that’s about all that’s known. To my knowledge (feel free to correct me, anyone) there still isn’t any solid evidence nailing down exactly how the virus started spreading, so the mentions of the wet markets and lab escape theory as the options seem odd here.

Along these lines, there is also no evidence as of yet showing that it was intentionally released, as has been alluded to throughout the thread.

Live my life as I am now.

Attend my son's t-ball games, going out with friends on occasion, work, play golf, shop, take hikes, etc....

And looking forward to spending the fall attending UofL football games.

For the last month or so I've gone back to living my normal life, as best I can given the circumstances. I protect myself as best I can and I am aware of people around me.

This thing isn't going away. A vaccine may or may not ever come to market, and if it does, despite the optimism that it will be early 2021, that's not a guarantee and even if it was, or becomes a guarantee, that is still 5+ months away. I'm past the point of putting my life on pause waiting for that magical perfect day, that theoretically seems to exist, where everything is fine and the threat is gone.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I'm not looking forward to getting calls about John Doe in a local restaurant refusing to wear a mask and refusing to leave.

Also the mask I was provided by work and have to wear makes me feel like I'm being waterboarded...it's way too thick. Whoever bought these things must've put them on two seconds in an air conditioned office and thought they looked cool and felt comfortable.

PC, take your condescending generalizing attitude and shove it.

That grandma comment was despicable when I have one that is locked down in a nursing home with no freedom in sight.

The lockdown is mentally playing on her and others. She is literally staring at 4 walls all day long and so are others.

How many additional deaths would it take for you to think that is a bad idea. Because if that all is what we do, we will eclipse one million deaths.

But let’s say you are right, and it’s just not going anywhere. Are you suggesting the freedom you enjoy is worth 20-25K cases a day, the difference between us and the EU. What if that moves to 50K, 100K a day.

Is there a point you care?

Because if we had several million new cases, deaths re going to spike. As we get more cases, the fatality rate increase, as we crash our resources. And that increases the mortality rate on a host of other conditions and inhjurirs.

                            That’s where this is headed.

And let’s say this last week is a fluke and we just settle at 30K cases a day. In one year, what do you think our economy will look like compared to the EU, who did the work to get the virus to a manageable level.

Because millions of us are can’t just brave the virus, so we stay in, killing the economy. I don’t need the a government shutdown to realize I need what I need to do. And the fact that millions of Americans realize this and have stopped going out, it has limited the damage that those who return to normal cause.

Amid the rash of new coronavirus cases in Texas, Rangers employees were told in an organization-wide email Thursday that "several members of our Texas Rangers family have tested positive for the Coronavirus (COVID-19)," according to a copy of the email obtained by ESPN.

The acknowledgment of positive tests came 10 days after the team entered a new phase of its reopening in which employees told ESPN that they were urged to work at Globe Life Field, the team's new $1.2 billion stadium. While there was never an explicit mandate, multiple employees told ESPN their managers said working from home was not an option. Exceptions were made for some employees.

"We are terrified for our safety," said one employee who works for the team and requested anonymity out of fear of repercussions by the organization.
