So, the other party took it to the WI Supreme Court and they decided held up the Constitution. Not much they could do, though.

There is a shortage of volunteers and most of the volunteers are retired and elderly.

That is as far as I will go on the political end, trying to stay within the friendly confines. lol

    And here we go........
It's unfortunate that we have such hard-hearted, callous political creatures in our state legislature. Say what you must/mustn't about politics, but the fact that Wisconsin is the ONLY state not postponing the primary shows me that we have unusually hateful and incompetent fools in their respective posts in this state. Some people just can't quit Scott Walker...

Most election workers are elderly, retirees and such. Who else can man a voting both for 14 hours right smack in the middle of a work week? That these venomous snakes and pit vipers are totally throwing the health and well-being of thousands of poll workers in our state to the wind makes me right furious.

And as a resident of the state, you are S.O.L. either way. Either disenfranchise yourself out of respect for the poll workers or go and vote and create a more crowded/hazardous situation. Or, be one of the smart ones that snatched an absentee ballot in advance.

My dad said they used to ration gasoline by only allowing certain license plate #s certain days in the early 80s.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

Ironically now they are trying to ration gas artificially (by cutting production) to raise the price in the middle of all this. Good times.

I was one of the smart ones and dropped my ballet off last Friday.

What a embarrassment and sham, all in the name of politics!

Congrats on your voting absentee. I would have if I thought they'd keep playing chicken right as they actually go over the cliff. It's an embarrassment and a loss for human decency, regardless of party affiliation. Thinking that our state government has decided "whatever dude, imma keep taking pot shots at the other side of the aisle, consequences be damned" makes me embarrassed to live in this state. Thinking that a lower turnout might actually be what some politicians want. That elderly poll workers all across this state will be getting up before dawn tomorrow, some with a genuine fear they might get sick and die all for volunteering for our democracy...and that it's totally a preventable situation if we had any grownups in the room here. That every other state with a primary tomorrow had the common sense to postpone...

But, it is what it is. I've got my mask, wrap-around goggles, nitrile gloves and such to make a point. Was thinking of tossing on a face shield as well just for effect. Now just to make a sign that says "I'm so sorry that our state government let you all down today" and stick it on my back.

                  Tell us how it goes.

Our son was 8th in line and said they had some precautions in place. All in all, it went pretty smooth early on and he was happy to vote for the Supreme Court.

This virus has me working more than I ever have right now. This is the first night I've logged off by 8 (including weekends). I'm not currently in a position to drop my work duties on a Tuesday because that's my day to go shopping and with stores being open limited hours I'd be pretty likely to miss those hours.

EDIT: Just re-read this one and I may have confused it with something I read earlier about checking ID's at the door? As mentioned above, haven't spent much time online. You may say I've been social distancing from social media.

I see you said recommendations, not requirements, which makes sense.
Yeah, I don't see how you can actually check and then enforce the guidelines without an actual police presence there ESPECIALLY in the beginning. Are we there yet? Should we be? Who knows, but most people are still killing time going shopping and don't see anything wrong with it.

My idea was basically to try and thin the crowd as much as possible before they even get to the parking lot. Once they're there they probably aren't going back home - especially if they wanted to get out of the house because they were bored.

Its kind of sad how little people have to do with their free time, but to me that's completely on them.

Interesting chart showing "mobility reduction". As in its showing how much of a decline all the states, and the provinces in Canada are facing in places like restaurants, malls and so on.

In Canada you have Quebec and Ontario at the top, while the US has DC,Vermont,NY at the top. States like Arkansas and Mississippi are at the bottom.

States like Arkansas and Mississippi are usually at the bottom for just about any sort of quality-of-life analysis you'd do in the United States. Mississippi has been one of the most aggressively backwards places in the Union since before the Civil War.

Lieutenant Dan stated he had been to Arkansas, I think once. Had brief, but nice things to say about the place. I believe his hearing was impacted by Vietnam as he didn't quite understand Forrest correctly. Or maybe it was the accent. Not sure...

Our family has our second causality of the CV.

Our son had a internship all lined up in the dairy industry this summer with free room and board and a good salary. Two weeks ago, they emailed him and said his internship was safe.
Today, they let him know all interns were let go.

For every door that closes, a new one opens, but still pretty devastating to him.

isn't it good to be at the bottom of this list? or I'm totally misunderstanding?

                                Sorry to hear that Roadman.

I saw a news story today that Logan's Roadhouse fired all of their employees and closed all 261 locations.

The economic impact that virus/pandemic is having on our country is brutal and we are far from seeing the full impact it is causing.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
