CDC Officials Warn of Coronavirus Outbreaks in the United States.

To effectively contact trace, cases need to be at .3 to 1.0 new cases a day par one million. In Missouri, that would be 2-6 new cases a day. We turned our post peak low point of 135 cases a day to well over 300 cases a day.

We opened without an ability to contact trace. That means, after time, the virus builds momentum again.

Now, no one seems will I go to ge there.

So then it comes down to how many new cases a day are acceptable, as we won’t even try to get a sustained decline.

The original instructions were that stars wait to open until they had two weeks of steady decline. None of the state’s with 3-500 cases a day or more had actually done that.

The idea of the decline is so that as you open slowly, you can react to problems. You can choose to ease and allow the decline to slow, or apply pressure and get the decline again.

Then you have to decide what the right level is. The graph showed that the entire EU is down to 3-4 thousand cases a day, and they are gingerly opening, and closing as spikes happen.

At the current rate, we can’t have pro sports, most youth sports, indoor dining, in-person education, movie theaters. Because those lead to uncontrolled spikes. That is what we are seeing right now.

And it’s more dangerous now than in April because so many of us have grown bored and frustrated with dealing with this. It’s why we need leadership.

We have multiple cities about to go down like NYC, and it’s going to get bad.

This is what thinking 25K new cases a day is tolerable. If we could hang on longer and get it down to closer to 3-5 thousand cases a day, we could actually get the economy back, and not have to beg people to go out.

Goalposts never changed. We never approached the goal posts anyway. There was that moment in mid April as cases were plummeting that I had a bit of hope.

Now, if we decide that all of it is stupid, we could go with Country Boy’s. That is an option. Than is an option with more than a million deaths.

And even if we decide not to choose, we have still made a choice.

And you just keep it going.

You do realize I have first hand experience of how bad the virus is and the toll it can take on someone right? You do realize my family situation right? You know what I do for a living right?

To educate you a little, I’m a sales rep for an electronic distributor who is considered an essential business because we supply the local sewer department, the local electric company, the railway system, the medical field, the transit field and a host of other essential businesses that keep this country moving during this pandemic. So I have to go to work.

As for what I do outside of work. I take trips to the store like you have. I go on hikes where I’m by myself. I take my son to play tee ball so that he can to some extent be a kid during all this mess. I meet up with friends at my house or their house or at a restaurant. I do everything while wearing a mask and being as careful as I can be, but I’m living my life.

If my choices are bothersome to you then that is your problem. If you view that as me not caring then that’s your uneducated opinion. If you want to keep using me as a scapegoat in your posts then not much I can do on an Internet forum other than say you’re nothing more than an opinionated, uneducated, arrogant prick.

I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

The more spread, the more bad outcomes. And that has consequences. Like having a heart attack in Houston today means you just die.

Young people getting it is worst possible outcome. They are least likely to have symptoms, but still spread it for weeks at a time.

And we still don’t have a grasp on the full nature of the damage it does to asymptomatic lungs, which show significant damage in studies of asymptomatic infected.

Deaths lag by about two weeks. While we sit around and wait for deaths to pile up, again, the virus will spread even more, making our panic moment in two weeks that much worse.

We’ve seen this play out over and over, and it’s the same people that continue to ignore this.
If an old person meets with anyone, why wouldnt they require a mask or social distancing.

From what I understand the mask doesn't really prevent them from getting it. It's to prevent others from getting it from you.

So requiring senior citizens to wear masks won't help them much if no one else is.

Not true. N95s do both and even surgical and cloth provide some protection. But even with the latter, require both and/or social distance.

im all for private establishments requiring masks.

If it is about freedom, doesn't anyone remember the expression, "freedom isn't free"? Sometimes sacrifices have to be made to keep our freedoms (and, of course, I mean no slight to fallen soldiers by using this example). This is one of those times. It's a small, temporary sacrifice for the good of our country, our planet as a whole and ourselves individually.
Its not that i think a filter don't help its the fact that like 95% of people who have mask have one that has no special filter and its been said many times that those type of mask are pointless that virus just goes threw the mask. On the other hand more reports comming out about how having a mask and basically breathing back your own air for hours and hours instead of fresh air is unhealthy. Also i don't know about different areas but where i live next week will be 4 months sense things first shut down. Like first month i didn't have to have a mask at work but most customers already where using them like 90%. So people at least where i live have for the most part have been using mask for 4+ months.

I'm sure even if deaths don't go back up to 2k+ per day you will be in here browbeating the world for allowing confirmed cases to go up the same either way, and shaming humanity for accepting so much sickness as just fine. You did that when deaths went down after the NY/NJ situation improved

The virus is going to spread. Remember those animated graphs explaining how the quarantine and social distancing slows the spread? Eventually all the cells got the virus. The key is that along the way to a vaccine we are improving treatments and preventing deaths that could not have been prevented in March/April.

At some point you will address the actual facts and conditions instead of trying to win debates by threatening and claiming your life and career is more important than the thousands being destroyed.

I’m not to stop. We still have a chance to avoid a catastrophe. But we have to act before people like you are comfortable because of the lag in damage this particular virus does.

Essential people have to work, obviously. But that doesn’t mean t-ball.

The pandemic sucks. All of our choices suck. Doing nothing and pretending it will go away to the worst of our crappy choices. We could be where the EU is right now to open the country up. We CHOSE not to.

That means more businesses dying. More unemployed. And more money than we can imagine being spent on healthcare instead of entertainment and other stuff.

I mean, Texas and Florida opened up because they listened to people like you. Look at them now as they clumsily backtrack while trying to save face.

So I’m going to argue against your “plan” every time I hear it, regardless of who is supporting it.

Scratch that. If Scott Gottlieb says it, I’m in board. I won’t argue with him.

Enjoy going back to work. Your state is now starting to show that problem with thinking 4-500 cases a day is manageable.

Green name (is it still green? I haven't used a browser for OS in years) aside, fellas, let's be respectful. This **** has impacted all of us in different ways. If you can't empathize with someone... don't hit send. If you're typing up a rebuttal, don't personally attack the person.
