So naturally, I started a new save with Rangers with the winter update. I breezed through the Championship. Brought in a few loans from down south and well, this season is surpassing my wildest dreams. I knew I was onto something special when I walked into Celtic Park and won 3-1.

I also started up a save with the Rangers about a week ago. I'm only about a fifth of the way through the first season, though. I think it'll be interesting trying to make them relevant in European play once we get promoted to the Premiership.Last edited by superjames1992; 04-16-2016, 02:07 PM.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Imagine that, injury disaster in my first year in la liga, currently sitting 16th, Dani Olmo went out at the beginning of the year with a broken foot, currently 3-6 weeks from recovery, he's our starting central attacking mid. My starting right winger Pedro is out for 3-5 weeks with a torn stomach muscle, my backup left winger Kasper Dolberg is out for 2-3 wees with a calf strain, and our backup right winger/striker Bertrand Traore is out for 2-3 months with a slipped disc. My backup fullbacks are also out for about a month as well. Our upcoming schedule is rough too, Real Madrid(H), Sporting(H), Espanyol(A), Ponferradina(A) and Deportivo(H) until we start really seeing people back.

You got to tone down the intensity of your training
I just realize I have 0 trophies so far in this save. Never played in the CL nor the EL.
Looking back, I didn't realize I was in the 3rd division of the French league for that long.Comment

How did you manage to survive a relegation?Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
I asked for an extension with like a match left even though I knew the team was getting relegated and my board gave me one. My job security was like untouchable until I got relegated, and did a meeting with the board and promised them some wins (not quite sure how many to start in Ligue 2) and accomplished that.Comment

AFC Wimbledon - Year 2
After being promoted to League 1 last season, we had another very solid year. Our goal for the season was to avoid relegation, and we did that with PLENTY of room to spare, finishing 9th.
This may be a little deceiving, though, as we went on a tear at the end of the season. A large chunk of the season was spent more towards the bottom, a few points above the relegation zone. Although I am proud that we never spent a single week of the season actually in the relegation zone. Lowest we ever were was 19th.

When you try to appease your (clearly) 3rd/4th choice CB who has been bugging you for more playing time by giving him a start at home.
And you lose 1-0 on an own goal from said player.

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
So I have a dilemma.
I can create a possession tactic no problem. I can do a all-out attacking tactic no problem.
But for the life of me, I can't get a counter tactic to work for anything.
Tried a high press, up-tempo one, nope.
Tried a slow and steady one, nope.
Hoof it up the field, nope.
Try to bait them with possession passing, nope.
What the hell do I need to do!?!Lions, Tigers, Pistons, Michigan

What the hell do I need to do!?!
-much less closing down
-drop deeper defensively.
-higher tempo
-more direct passing
-hit early crosses
It's built around inviting the opposition into my half and frustrating them defensively, then launching speedy attacks with pacey wingers and strikers.
I should note that I manage in a small league(I went back to Bangor City in the Welsh Premier, who I had a lot of fun with in FM15). Results may differ at higher levels.Huskers | Chelsea FC | Minnesota United | OmahaComment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
New to the thread, hoping my Nottm Forest save goes well so can actually post as it's so far about the first in FM16 I'm actually excited about. Though damn does the start suck, got about half the team out for months (ranging from 6 to 13), a transfer embargo (which still allows signing frees though), and a good chance of going into the red this season.
Only have two conditions for the save so far: Playing 4-4-2, and trying to keep it "pretty."Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
I've been playing some fm lately, and here are the results.
My team is Sant Andreu, a team from Barcelona playing in the fourth tier of Spanish football.
Season 1 - Won the Third division Group 5 (4th tier), promoted
Season 2 - Won the Second division B3 (3rd tier), promoted
Season 3 - 2nd in Liga Adelante (2nd tier), promoted to Liga BBVA!!!
Season 4 - 18th in Liga BBVA, relegated back to Liga Adelante
I'm not too disappointed with the relegation, it's just a consquence of our meteoric rise. It wasn't possible to improve the squad as much as was needed to stay in the Primera, we'll be stronger next time.Khalabeeb - Tony Henderson
