Did wind up signing Saivet for 6 Mill. Also brought in at the last minute Nugent, Boa Marte, and from Arsenal, Jack Wilshere all on season long loans.
Hopefully they'll gel in time for a playoff push.

Can someone explain this one to me? So, as I've posted before, I just signed Vagner Love on a free from Man City. However, he was denied the initial work permit and then the permit on the appeal. From my understanding of work permits, I would then need to loan him out until he gained citizenship. Well, a few months later, he is available (and starting) for me against Chelsea in the EPL season opener. How is this possible? Do I just not understand work permits?

I have no explanation for this other than maybe you misread and he did get his permit, or either he gain nationality somehow. really don't know.

And with 10 games to go, I'm 7 points and 7 teams behind the last playoff spot

No, the permit, I am sure, was denied...

He also only has Brazilian citizenship...

It's puzzling then, but he still shouldn't have been denied a permit in the first place with the amount of caps he has.

The reason Vagner Love's (God, that is a great name:wink work permit was denied was "if a footballer's work permit were to be extended, then that player would be expected to have been a regular member of his club's first team by playing in the region of 75% of first team games." He only appeared in 4 games for Man City in over 2 seasons. It still doesn't explain why he is allowed to play now though...

4 games to go in the season with QPR, I'm in 9th five points out of sixth, probably need to win all the games to have a shot at that last playoff spot.

Going into the last game I'm in 8th, 1 point off. Blew my chance to jump ahead in the previous game losing to West Brom at home.

Last game is at home against Leicester, while my opponents, Ipswich are at home to second place Stoke, and Burnley are on the road to relegation battlers Norwich.

I need a win and both to either lose or draw to their opponents.

Update: Well I got two own goals from Leicester to win, Norwich scores two second half goals to come back and beat Burnley, and Stoke goes on the road and gets the scoreless draw against Ipswich.

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***

So I'm in the year 2012. Have been with AC Milan since I started this game. First three years at Milan I finished 3rd my first year, and the past 3 years have taken first place. Have finally added the youth I needed to the squad, and got rid of all the geriatrics that plague the Italian Giants.

Since I won the CL last season for the first time since taking over in Milan, I saw that Newcastle was searching for a new manager, and wanted to move to a Premiership club. So I declared my interest whcih obviously angered the chairman a bit at Milan. Newcastle decided to hire someone else (Big mistake) and I thought my dream of having a new challenge in the Premiership was over, but out of no where Arsenal offers me their job. I guess Wenger just retired. So with $100M+ in the transfer kitty, I decided I'd take the Arsenal job and see what I can do. I'm a real life Man Utd fanatic, so this is a bit strange, but it gets me in the Premiership and want to see where this leads.

I signed a bunch of my young guys I had at Milan straight away. Including a 18 year old 179PA GK, Henri Saivet, Franck Ribery (Who I got from FC Bayern for a cheap price since he wanted a new challenge) and a 19 year old 199PA Italian Striker. He's gonna be a beast. Screenshot attached.

                              Agree.

Well I wound up beating Wigan 4-1 on agg. Then beat West Brom on 85th minute goal to gain promotion.
I've gone on a spending spree in the summer signing, had a $34 mill budget
                              ST N. Bendtner for 8.25
                              GK O. Ustari for 8.25
                              WB A. Traore for 7
                              MC A. Diaby for 7
                              AML S. Giovinco for 4.1
                              MC D. Gibson for 3.6

                              And still searching for CB.

I also sold a lot of players
