Kosc probably won't play though, as he's recovering from injury.

        Wilshere back in October?

        Would be fantastic if true.

It would be on track with what he said a few months ago. He's been in training for awhile now, so I'm sure he'll get some reserve matches in soon.

It'll be so great to see him back on the field. I've missed his spunky attitude.

Anybody think that we will see Koscielny back in lineup once he is really fit. I think he will have a hard time, maybe he will play RB but I don't see Wenger breaking up the chemistry Per and Vermaelen formed in these three games. Still too early to tell.

I think as of now he's definitely the third option, and will be rotated in here and there. As for RB, Sagna will be back soon enough, and Jenkinson has shown he's much better cover there now than last year.

My favorite thing about Mertesacker is that he's content playing deep as a defender, and doesn't get too caught up in making a run forward in the box.

Kosc was terrific last year, and he would have been the starter had he not gotten hurt, but I agree Per and TVM's chemistry shouldn't be messed with. But with inevitable injuries and CL/Cup games/games where a starter needs rest, Kosc will get plenty of chances. It's a really great thing having quality defensive depth, as that's been an area where we've really struggled in the past.

I agree but Per looks good though. In these first three games he looks a little more nimble and doesn't turn as slow. It could be from conditioning and proper trainer but he looks like he is ready to show his true quality this year.

Arsenal 'can't compete' in transfer market against top-four rivals
The Arsenal chairman, Peter Hill-Wood, has admitted the club 'can't compete' in the transfer market with their Premier League top-four rivals

Not really news to anyone. Especially Arsenal supporters.

Yea, he acts like Arsenal fans have delusional expectations for the club to spend like City, Chelsea and PSG. You don't have to spend in the name of spending, but If there is a clear deficiency or lack of depth (**cough** Defensive Midfield **cough**) somewhere, then spend the damn money to get someone in. These guys are more concerned with turning a quick buck and pocketing the money instead of pumping the money into strengthing the side. Then the board trots Arsene Wenger out there to BS the supporters and say "we getting so and so back from injury", or we didn't find someone of "super-quality"

Then here comes the clincher: Once we get to the point of no return and then season is already lost, we are out of the CL, FA cup and Carling Cup and 15 points back in the title race come Late March they finally admit what Ray Charles can see that we were short a player or two.

It's the same song and dance ever year and its old from the board. If the board wants to be a fringe CL squad and 4th place is the goal, then say that. But don't come out here and tell me Arsenal is about trophies, when many of the actions point to the club being about healthy profits and doing just enough to the keep the side in the CL. Stop giving me mixed messages so I know not to get my hopes up come August. And stop insulting the fan base as well with this crap. Nobody here is asking for the moon and the stars. We ask for someone to have the balls to admit when the side is obviously lacking something.

Glad to see someone from the board come out and say this instead of feeding us some BS like always. With that said PHW time has came and went, he needs to go along with his boy Kroenke.

i still think arsenal is doing it the "right way". i know most feel that we need to replace song and i dont feel they are wrong. however we the fans dont have the same information in front of us that the coaching staff does. who is to say that we dont have the replacement already? after all a couple months ago we all knew that diaby was **** right ? yet he is stepping up in a huge way right now. who is to say that someone else wont do the same either.

besides can we without a doubt say we cant play at the same level as chelsea or city ? maybe we even have the depth to compete for a title.

I don't think any of us said Diaby was garbage. We just knew he couldn't stay healthy, and it's still really dangerous to count on someone with his injury record.

I'm just hoping this is the beginning of the club not treating the fans like we are morons.

That's my issue with the statement. I feel is if he is talking to the supporters like children instead of intellegent football fans. Arsenal have great fans who know the game and know when something isn't right.

I think most Arsenal fans believe in Diaby and his ability. The problem is his body type and injury history plus the fact we are asking him to play the "Vieiria" role in midfield. His body has not shown the ability to handle the wear and tear over a course of an EPL season yet in the role we need. Hell the reason the back four looked good last week is because of how well he played. Now can he do that week-in and week out and keep midfielders off of Carzola so he can create the magic he does and stay healthy.

If he does, we can have a really good and consistent season. I still say the reason Arsenal was so good in the early to mid 2000s was how good the back four and DMs were in addition to the creative quality. Pires, Bergkamp, Henry felt confident going forward because of the strength and steel at the back.
