I think Klinsmann is my favorite player on this team.

re: Official USMNT/USWNT Thread
Jermaine Jones...Our best player at this tournament...I never thought i'd say it.
Howard has done a great job, but on at least 4-5 occasions, he failed miserably to clear the ball appropriately...
If Bradley could play well for more than 5 minutes at a time, we might have 9 points.
Our defense has played above their heads and I'm proud of them.Australian Rules Football...just sayin'Comment

re: Official USMNT/USWNT Thread
Im just wondering when is the usa gonna stop playing this all defense no possession game. Im happy we made it through but I feel this team is much better than what they have been playing. I hate seeing this 2 shots for us and 13 shots for the other team with only 37% of possessionComment

Getting Jozy back will do wonders. When we had him we were taking the game to Ghana. Everything changed when he went down.
For now we will have to be a counter attack type team but we are definitely better than we've showed so far.Comment

Are you serious? We are clearly better than we've been showing and we don't necessarily have to "open it up" to show that we are.

Look, I'm not saying we can't or won't win against these teams. Anything can happen in a one-off match. I'm just tired of watching us needlessly squander the few opportunities we have to put an attacking move together.Last edited by ImTellinTim; 06-27-2014, 12:08 PM.Comment

re: Official USMNT/USWNT Thread
If Jozy comes back and is 100% I think we'll have a fair chance of beating Belgium. My only concern if he does come back will he be able to play the full 90 minutes? Will we have to change formations at half-time if Jozy isn't well enough to finish the game or would we stick it out like we did against Ghana?Comment

re: Official USMNT/USWNT Thread
Sure, we can show flashes of good play and can take the game to teams sometimes. We do not have the technical skill to hang with better teams though. That's what it comes down to. Good teams keep the ball. We needlessly give it away with inaccurate passing and poor first touches. When you go up against a side like Germany, that's where you really see it. It all starts at the youth level. We're getting better, but we're not there yet.

Is everyone forgetting that we dominated Portugal?
There's no shame in what happened against Germany. None. They're really ****ing good.
Personally, all considered, I'm satisfied with how this team's played so far in this competition.Member: OS Uni Snob Association | Twitter: @MyNameIsJesseG | #WT4M | #WatchTheWorldBurn

That's what I'm getting at though. That should have been a win, but we misplay the ball needlessly and it causes 2 goals against.
I'm happy with where we're at too, but we need to be better.Comment

re: Official USMNT/USWNT Thread
you are exactly right. We don't have the advantages other teams have. So we have to be more efficient and play to our strengths and protect our weaknesses. We might advance in an "ugly" way but we still advance and we are surviving.Comment

re: Official USMNT/USWNT Thread
If Jozy is back, even 90% would be huge. Just to get the rest of the guys back in their normal positions and to get some fresh legs in there. Jozy is going to be hungry for some action after having to watch 2 and a half matches. The team will get an extra boost from his return too.
Also, let's not over hype Belgium, yes they are good but we can hold our own. Respect them, but don't give them too much respect like we did to Germany early on in the game. Round of 16, anyone can lose.Current careers:

re: Official USMNT/USWNT Thread
Yep if Jozy is back, I think it helps the entire team. Bradley should then have someone to hold the ball up, which will hopefully open up the sides, plus he would have Dempsey also available. The pressure is on Bradley to step up and I hope he does. The USA needs a great performance from him to advance.Comment
