I feel for Jurgen...the media keeps asking him for his opinion on this Super League and he’s like “it’s not my decision. I coach the team.”

Im invested in Liverpool, this is my home, my kids have grown up here and my oldest has a scouse accent, he talks about football all the time, he only cares about Liverpool and I’ll be damned if anybody says that continuing to support them is me being devoid of morals. This isn’t a commodity, it’s not something I can just chose to not care about anymore. I still wholeheartedly support the players, the staff, I care about the fans and the club and none of them are at fault for the actions of owners who have been here for 10 out of 129 years. That is a ridiculous notion.

At any point in the however many years you’ve been a city fan have you worried about morality? Through being a vehicle for the sports washing of a state with severe human rights issues, the literal child abuse scandal the club has covered up for years, only now morality comes into it?

Very few football clubs are completely clean. There is nothing about the super league that I like. But this is the most selective horse**** post I have ever seen on this topic and many others.

The personal choice to support this sham and support the destruction of soccer as we know it makes it an individual lack of character. Regardless of why you continue to support a club in that sham league, you’re complicit nonetheless.

While a lot of professional franchises have flawed owners, this is completely different from that. We don’t choose who buys our clubs. You’re in complete control of this specific decision, and you choose immorality and greed.

And also with this decision you’re ostensibly teaching your kids that personal relationships are worthless, and to acquire as much money as possible with no regard for the well-being of others.

not a mod, but feels like this discussion of morals is not going to go anywhere positive, so it's probably better to simply put it on the shelf.

My dad's family is from Liverpool and my cousins and uncle/aunt are probably the most obnoxious Liverpool fans I've ever known. If Liverpool leaves the premier league and champions league they have all said they won't be watching any longer. This is a lot bigger than just brushing it off as something that will pass with history. If the super league is successful, you can be sure those owners of yours will be around for a very very long time.

Most changes that have happened to european football over the years have been derided tbh, the creation of the Premier League itself was sort of a cash grab, but all have still been within the context of keeping the same system. The super league has no threat of failure because you can't be relegated, it removes the idea that you can work your way up like Leicester City and become a European contender, because these clubs have to VOTE you in lmao.

This whole super league is about becoming an American style league where you can make tons and tons of money no matter how bad you are because everything is guaranteed and everything is designed to ensure teams like Leicester/Atalanta/Villareal don't even get a chance to grow into a top contender.

Of course all of this is just sort of a "how much nonsense do you personally feel ok putting up with", so people who want to continue to support their teams of course are within their right to do so.

I just don't agree with the people saying "things have changed before and it was fine", this is VERY different.

Scrolling through Facebook and laughed at this From Football Planet:

BREAKING: Arsenal have decided to not participate in the European Super League. They are starting their own breakaway league with just themselves.
The bookies currently have them as second favourites to win it.

Yeah, the Americanization is what turns me off a lot.

One of the biggest reasons I started following European football was how insanely different the entire league structure is compared to American franchise sports.

It’s one of the many reasons the Super League does not interest me, at all. I don’t care who plays in it, it’s a glorified North American/Asian preseason tour.

I saw musings today regarding if the big six leave, will Everton still finish in 7th?

My favorite part of the Super League is watching Tottenham fans debating between each other as to why we are in the Super League (besides the obvious ENIC want money)

Before Poch came we were the classic Europa league team but now we are suddenly one of the top 12 clubs in the world??

Just a shame to see people completely strip themselves of self-respect or anything resembling empathy. They care about nobody but themselves and their personal enjoyment, and it’s sad and disappointing that there are so many people like that who’ve chosen to blindly support this sham. Again, show some respect for yourselves and stand for something. Be someone your families can be proud of instead of being a sellout with no values.

English government potentially stepping in, Jordan Henderson calling an emergency meeting between all premier league captains, now reports that possibly both Chelsea and City are getting cold feet due to the backlash.

Wild. This is only day 2 lmao.
