Goodness me what is with Fulham taking penalties? An indirect free kick from a penalty. Cavaliero slips and hits the ball with both feet.Comment

Leeds must have at least a half dozen good looks at goal shot miles over the bar.Comment

Well now at least there will be a reason other than indifference Bellerin won’t get any defensive help from him.Comment

Happened to Martial weeks ago as well. Bonehead plays for sure worthy of a red, but the reaction of simulation is criminal in my mind.Yankees, Manchester United, Chicago Bears, New York RangersComment

Re: 2020-2021 English Football Thread
This sport is absolutely ridiculous in terms of what is allowed and is not, what is judged harshly, and what is not inside those lines.
No argument here that Pepe violated a rule and should know better, but when you can be dismissed for that but not some of the dangerous challenges we see on a weekly basis, whether it's Kane intentionally upending opponents to win penalties or players intentionally throwing arms or elbows into faces without punishment, it just baffles me.
There's no charm in the hypocrisy and hair splitting—it's just maddening. It feels like each week I'm watching a different sport officiated under different rules (VAR leads to a lot of that feeling).
Seemingly every game is apples to oranges to bananas to pears in terms of decisions made regarding fouls, goals, etc. In a few hours Jamie Vardy could square up to a player, put his head onto theirs (if they're short) and he won't receive a card at all because...he didn't "headbutt" the player? And if he were to receive a card, you can be damn sure that Martin Tyler and Gary Neville would not excoriate him nearly as much as they did Pepe.

Agreed. I actually think it’s worthy of a red as well to be honest. It’s cheating the game in my opinion and until the sport decides to really take this simulation problem seriously, there is little reason to stop doing it.

However, you should obviously never put yourself in a position to be sent off.Last edited by Krebstar; 11-22-2020, 01:03 PM.Comment

Re: 2020-2021 English Football Thread
2020 has arrived at a point where I am hoping Liverpool wins back to back league titles because the alternative is Spurs winning it under Jose Mourinho.
Also I’ve gone ahead and decided to get mad in advance, due to the inevitable media trashing of Lampard for “losing the title” in a race we absolutely are not meant to be part of yet.Comment
