Yeah, Ings is 29 now. For some reason I was thinking he was still 26.

Re: The Transfer Thread
I rate Ings but I don’t think he fits the profile Tuchel likes or is looking for. Our defensive system starts from the top with front-line pressure and Ings doesn’t have those legs anymore.
If we’re going to spend on a striker it has to be a huge splash and someone that offers a huge upgrade over Werner and/or Tammy. No more older stop gaps for us please.
In me you have at least one Arsenal supporter who would love the club to give you money for Tammy so you can go do whatever you'd like with it. Not sure if that makes me crazy or not.
Plus, you wouldn't even be selling to competition! Just offloading an English player onto another midtable club.Comment

If I was an agent I'd be advising all of my clients to take short term deals, 3 years tops. Situations in football change so fast. Three years ago Spurs were looking like they could actually break into elite of English footy and now look at 'em.Comment

Re: The Transfer Thread
On Tuchel: When he took over on January 26, Man United were in 2nd on 40 points, Chelsea were in 10th on 29 points.
Each team played 19 matches after he took over—38 points for Chelsea, 34 points for United. In that time United did score more goals (12 more), but Chelsea had a better: goals allowed record, xG, xGA, and xPTS.
Only looking at the final standings to judge how Tuchel did in England compared to how Ole has done isn't fair.
On Klopp: Won 2 Bundesliga titles, 1 DFB Pokal, 1 Champions League (three finals), and 1 Premier League. Two seasons ago, in Ole's first full season, he finished 31 points above Ole.
Ole has won 2 Norwegian league titles, and 1 domestic cup. He's done well at United, but I don't think he's the level of manager to get them to where they SHOULD be, no matter what they do to their squad.
I hope they keep Ole for as long as possible.
I think a different manager gets more out of Pogba. I think a different manager gets more out of Maguire. However, Ole has also gotten a lot out of guys like Cavani, Fred, even Bruno. I suppose we shall see what happens this year. This obviously is his make or break year.Yankees, Manchester United, Chicago Bears, New York RangersComment

Re: The Transfer Thread
You’d have to weigh an “amazing” Villa season vs a potentially amazing City season.
I think he’s done his time but there’s just too many positives that City can bring him.
Higher wages
Better coaching
Playing UCL footy
Winning trophies
Playing with elite players
Raises his profile
Etc…
That’s just too much to leave on the table IMO and he leaves Villa with a nice parting gift by the way of that 100 mil.
I think City can afford both. Bernardo is on his way out by all accounts. No idea if Jesus would stay of Kane comes. Laporte has been rumored to wanting more guaranteed minutes. Rumblings about Sterling going too. It’s going to be an interesting window but City needs to keep improving as teams like Liverpool, United, and Chelsea are looking to close the gap.

A player would be out of their mind to stay at Villa just to possibly get them to Europe when you can go win a title while making tons more money.Last edited by ImTellinTim; 08-04-2021, 11:38 AM.Comment

Re: The Transfer Thread
I'm not saying it's not happening or it's the wrong move for him, but I doubt it was an easy/quick decision, especially as he's surely been tempted before, and his stock would still be high next season.Comment

Re: The Transfer Thread
I have to say, I think that’s a huge overpayment for Grealish. Not only does City not need him, I don’t really think he moves the needle that much to actually improve them as a squad. Just my opinion, but he needs a lot more touches to be impactful and I just don’t see him getting that in a top 4 team really.Yankees, Manchester United, Chicago Bears, New York RangersComment
