Nice touch. I enjoyed the sobotka tip and oshie in tight on brodeur. Just a thought, I know it takes a bit more load time, but maybe go slow mo a second before the goal for added effect

Off to a nice start

Several Forwards Struggle In Seasons First Quarter

By Stephen Holley
Operation Sports Hockey Network

David Backes.

Brad Boyes.

David Perron.

What do these three players have in common? All three of them bring horrible offensive statistics into the seasons 2nd quarter as the three forwards have combined for 13 goals and 7 assists for 20 points in a combined 69 games of action.

"I really struggled last season with just 13 goals...I was hoping for a better start but I know the season is long and goals should come eventually," said a rather nonchalant Boyes, who many fans would like to see package for just about anything at this point.

David Perron may be feeling the pressure of his recent contract extention and his first 'big time' NHL contract of his career. Perron seemed a little more concerned, "I'm really working hard to find ways to contribute while I'm struggling. But I'm -8 so thats not exactly anything else thats looking good for me".

Heart and soul forward, David Backes, who has struggled the most of the three scoring just 4 goals with 0 assists in 23 games, also leads the team in +/- with a +6.

"I'm playing hard, pucks just haven't gone in. Every year it seems like the same situation-but this year seems worse. I'll just keep working hard on both sides of the game and see where it goes", said Backes who has also had zero powerplay time as Vladimir Tarasenko has taken his PP spot.

TARASENKO RISING!!!

Vladimir Tarasenko has been a positive surprise playing on the third line. So much so that he has been rewarded with a second line position heading into December playing along side TJ Oshie and David Perron.

After a slow start in October, managing just 1 goal and 2 assists in 9 games with a -1, Tarasenko tallied 3 goals and 8 assists during November. The hope is that as he gains confidence, he gains production.

Blues Destroy Washington; Tarasenko Tallies Hat Trick

(11-15-0) WSH 1
(15-9-0) STL 9
Shots WSH 23 STL 32
PP WSH 1/3 STL 3/6

Rookie forward Vladimir Tarasenko tallied 3 goals and 2 assists in tonights 9-1 demolishion of the Washington Capitals, who have officially hit rock bottom early this season.

St. Louis, who won their fifth straight game, would score 5 first period goals while outshooting Washington 11-6 in the frame and would put it in cruise control for the final 40 minutes.

Seymon Varlamov was pulled after 12:42 of ice time after the Blues had tagged him for 4 goals on just 9 shots. Michal Neuvirth would settle the Blues down just a bit as they managed 5 goals on 23 shots over the final 48 minutes of the game.

Also scoring for the Blues was Brad Boyes, Alex Steen, David Backes, and David Perron would score in his third straight game.

Jaroslav Halak would stop 22 of 23 Washington shots on the night. Eric Brewer would also score a goal and add a pair of assists.

Oilers End Blues Streak At Five

(15-10-0) STL 3
(13-9-1) EDM 7

PP STL 0/2 EDM 1/2

The Edmonton Oilers stomped on the Blues tonight in a 7-3 win led by Sam Gagner's hat trick and 4 assists from Ales Hemsky.

Ty Conklin would allow the seven markers on 39 shots while the Blues would get a pair goals from Brad Boyes who now has 8 on the season.

Alexandre Giroux, Dustin Penner, and Sean Horcoff would each add a goal and an assist in the route.

Blues Fall Short In Vancouver

(15-11-0) STL 2
(14-11-0) VAN 5
Shots STL 21 VAN 25
PP STL 0/1 VAN 1/3

After a 9-1 win to open the month of December, the St. Louis Blues had been outscored 12-5 over the past two games in losses to the Canucks and Oilers.

"It's about consistency. It's not wise to blow momentum in this league when you finally get it. We had won 5 straight including a big win over the Caps and now...it's like it never happened. Starting from scratch," said Blues forward Andy McDonald who tallied a goal and an assist in the defeat.

Mason Raymond led the Canucks with 2 goals while Vancouver would also get markers from Daniel Sedin, Christian Ehrhoff, and Manny Malholtra as Roberto Luongo halted 19 of 21 pucks.

Jaroslav Halak was pulled after 37:20 of action after allowing 5 goals on 18 shots before Ty Conklin would stop all 7 shots he would face in 22:20.
