Re: M17 XP Slider Discussion

I hated the way that last one formatted. Fixed so you can read it easier. Sorry about that.

4th sim done. This time I focused on only 85+ players only. I view 85-89 players as potential Pro Bowl guys, 90-94 as All Pros, and 95+ as Elites.

Not a ton of insight on this. Mainly because I know what I looking for and it's not there yet so I want to get to another sim. When you get rid of the 80-84 range it really clarifies what you are seeing as far as the upper echelon guys. Get back to you guys soon.

Re: M17 XP Slider Discussion

Tdawg, I recommend toying around in the 92-94 range with QBs. I agree 100 is too much. But my first sim I did, I used 90 and that one ended up with only one QB above 90 and 14 in the 85-89 range(to be fair, there were three 89s that easily could have been 90+ if things went different). But with it at 94 I've been getting approximately 1-2 at 95+, 2-3 at 90-94, and 10-12 at 85-89 depending on the sim. I think 92 or 94 might be the sweet spot.

Just an idea, thank you for your work on this

I think that is where I'm going to end up. Just wanted to drop back to what I had and then make the small increment. Like I am with OLBs. I won't necessarily do that with all positions but some are very touchy.

Re: M17 XP Slider Discussion

Definitely agree with the 85+ approach to modifying the sliders. Hopefully we can develop a reasonable number of elites with some higher sliders at certain positions, because it may be the only reasonable chance we have at it.

I guess if someone really doesn't like the higher # of 80-84 players in the game, they can edit the draft class to nerf a few of 'em.

5th sim done (it's like I have no life lol). Same rules as before.

Only focused on 85+ players. I view 85-89 players as potential Pro Bowl guys, 90-94 as All Pros, and 95+ as Elites.

Thank you so much for doing this, I was looking for some M17 XP slider testing, seems like you're definitely on the right track with this. Keep up the good work bro, much appreciated

Re: M17 XP Slider Discussion

I have 2 sims worth of tables and what tdawg had to do just to get them posted here isn't worth it as tdawg has already uncovered that we were being far too conservative with the slider at some positions lol.

A couple things I think are worth mentioning are that there is a degree of randomness to who becomes great. I'm willing to wager the cpu doesn't buy the development trait ever so any players that are going to progress to 95+ are going to be players that were drafted with superstar or quick development AND happened to get a chance to start at their position early in their career AND excelled at it.

From what I can tell 90% is the perfect place for QB's and you might as well go 300% for all offensive linemen. I ran HBs at 140% and there were 7 less HBs over 80 after 20 years than there was in the beginning. They can probably go as high as 250% maybe even all the way to the max with the linemen.

WRs are in the same boat, I'd recommend trying them at 250+. At 140% there wasn't a single WR at 90 or above after 20 years with only 11 at 85 or above and over 40 in the 80-84 range.

TE's were very good at 100%, but no 95+ player showed up in my sims. The total number of 80+ players and the talent in the 85-94 range were VERY close to the base.

On defense cornerbacks and tackles need the most help.

DT's 110% gave me 3 tackles at 85 ovr and only 13 above 80 after 20 years. They can easily go over 200% I'd imagine

DE's come out very closely and consistently to the base at 100%. I'd assume 120-130% is the sweet spot because they were just a little thin in the top two tiers.

MLBs at 100% was a bit of a conundrum after 20 years. I had no 95+ guys but I had 7 players at 90-94 and 6 at 85-89 and another 6 at 80-84. It seems too clustered at the top, but I don't want to prevent potential upside. Could just be the randomness of performance / my opinion that MLB's have a higher chance of winning DPOY than other positions.

OLB's at 90% was pretty good, but not enough either way to give me a real opinion on where to go with it.

CB's at 140% gave me 1 corner that hit 90 after 20 years 10 at 85 or better and the rest clustered below that. I'd say they're a candidate to go to 230+ In order to create an elite tier

Free Safeties at 100% and SS at 90% had similar results where the majority clustered to 85 or below. Much like the other positions I'd want to boost them all the way to 140-150% in an attempt to create an elite tier while hopefully thinning out the middle tier.

I'm sure before long truly optimal %s will be decided on but for now I think we have solidified QB 90% as showing great results. For anyone looking for a baseline to play with in the meantime personally I'd recommend 300% or close to it on all OL, maybe 270 for tackles. The candidates to get a boost over 200% imo are HBs, WRs, DTs, and CBs.

From what I'm seeing I'm expecting the right linebacker % to either be 100 or 110%

DE's and Safeties will likely need more in the range of 130-150 to allow some players to separate themselves from the middle tier

I doubt I'll collect any more data since posting it is such a pain, but that's the baseline I'll be using in my franchise while I keep checking up on this thread
