Note, I'm using the filter/sort button on the column header and prior to clicking that I had selected one of the editable cells in rows 2 - 301...

Also, I'm on Microsoft Excel 2013. Not sure if people having issues are on earlier versions of Excel, or Google Sheets or something?

If you're still having issues, I'll upload an unprotected version of the tool (though be warned: it's pretty fragile and changing any formulae or deleting rows etc. could balls up the whole thing).
When I click that "A-Z" it says something about a password. I have a MacBook and I think the excel is 2011.

Ah ok that probably explains it. I'll upload an unprotected version of the sheet now (you can copy and paste the values from columns A:Q that you've already input into the protected version of the sheet into the new one), and you'll be able to sort to your heart's content.

For the next version I'll have a play about with a macro to give a button that allows sorting.

Uploaded an unprotected version of the file now - see the OP.

Marvel at what a bag of spaghetti this tool is under the hood, and (probably) how inefficiently written some of my formulae are! Intrepid users might also find a column where I was attempting to predict a range for a prospects actual OVR. This didn't work very well, and eventually I converted to use the true value rating which was much more useful. I might resurrect the predicted OVR stuff for a future version though.

Re: Scouting Tool for Madden 17 CFM

Sorting work for me just fine fwiw. Was wondering about an unprotected version so I could play with it more or the password to unprotect it.

Quick thing I noticed when doing LT and RT. If the 1st attribute is say Run Blk and the rating is "C+" for RT it says don't draft right away. I would think because the you have to have at least 1 "B". But for LT it says continue to scout. I don't know if it's because it's looking for that "B-" Pass Blk rating or not. Anyways just something I noticed.

Great job by the way. This thing looks fantastic. Are we able to adjust the the scouting requirements tab and your formulas will update with that? So if I want the minimum rating for LT to be a "C" instead of "C+" then just by changing it there it would take affect?

Yeah that's a bug bear of mine with the tool at the moment too. Top of my to do list is to make sure the tool tells you to stop scouting as soon as some of its other checks can't possibly be fulfilled E.g. the first skill input for a LT is run blocking C+, which means you can't possibly meet the criteria for at least a B on pass blocking, so the tool should tell you to stop scouting immediately. Currently it will let you spend more scouting points in the hope of finding an elusive B on pass blocking in the next two scouted skills, but this wouldn't ever happen. My original thinking was that people might not enter the scouted skills in order (i.e. the top skill - scouted skill 1) first. But I don't think that's likely to happen in retrospect. Will definitely sort this out for the next version.

Yes you can tweak the grades the tool is using to assess the prospects in the scouting requirements tab. This will work on the protected version of the tool too, but you can only change cells where there is already a value (you can't add a brand new criteria to say, for example, I want my QBs to have at least a 4.9 40 yard dash, but you can say I'm happy for my QBs to have a B+ throw power rather than A-). Some of the criteria are things like "at least one B from TRK, ELU, BCV" and you can't really tell from the sheet which cells refer to checks like that and which ones are checks in their own right. I'd advise referring to the blog post to make sure you're changing what you think you are.

But yeah, feel free to play around and let me know if you make any tweaks that prove to be more effective than my set of criteria. If my testing validates it, I'll change it for the next version of the tool!

Got the new sheet and Im able to sort it, so thank you. Unfortunately I'm pretty much excel illiterate so I had to reenter all the info because I couldn't cut and paste it. Excel kept freezing.
