That has nothing to do with time and number of plays.

Re: Most realistic quarter length?

The most, "realistic," quarter length should provide 130-160 plays a game. So 15 minute quarters with 15 second minimal play clock achieves this.

Re: Most realistic quarter length?

I enjoy 12 minutes, no accelerated clock. Games take roughly an hour real-time, and I average around 65 plays per side.

Keeps it real to me.
15/13 is what I use as well. I used to use 12/20 because the CPU would only audible with it set to 20, but they didn't audible enough for me to warrant keeping it. 15/13 gives the game a better feel to me personally.

When I do 12 I go with a rundown to about 13. That way the time of possession ends up fairly even at the end of the game, because the CPU doesn’t take much time at the line usually.

What I’m after is about 60 plays per team (not including special teams). I adjust defensive sliders to compensate.

The reason I don’t normally go fifteen minutes is because in Madden the clock operator is unrealistically perfect. In real life you’ll lose several seconds per quarter to a slight delay between the player going down and the ref blowing the whistle (and the clock operator reacting to that). It adds up by the end of the game.

Sure does if you are trying to have stats that are similar to what the CPU teams have at the end of the season. That’s all I’m saying. All the simulated stats are based on full games and it’s not like NBA 2k where you can adjust.

I thought that last year, and maybe I’m wrong and misremembering, that the sim games had a little bit lower number of plays.

So depending on someone’s play style can def make a difference with how many place you are getting in a certain game as opposed to CPU plays in simmed games.

Your right that it has nothing to do with an individual players time and plays but I was just making a comment for something to think about if your trying to match numbers somewhat close that’s all.

Re: Most realistic quarter length?

In M21 I've been using 10M/20ACCEL

The problem was the CPU vs CPU games were only averaging around 105-120 plays per game so I tried to match that. Not that it's NFL realistic, but I want my teams stats in line with the CPU teams. Typically if you had realistic NFL totals for your played games you were 1st in offense and last in defense.

I'll have to test in M22 maybe they fixed that? Just go through the box scores of CPU vs CPU games and average out the total number of plays.
