steelerspartan -

just a couple questions regarding your sliders.

I am using the bills and have played 3 games. Do you have any tips for pass defense? the cpu qb seems to have ridiculous completion percentages.. like 90% and above.. also since I am using the bills and the O Line is pathetic what would be the best way to make the run game slightly easier? I like the run game but I am finding it difficult to break any runs over 10 yards and also most of my runs are stopped at/before the line due to my pathetic o-line. I would like to keep the run game as close as possible to the "feel" its at now.. just an ounce easier.

I can only tell ya what works for me in regards to the passing game

*I run a lot of cover 2-3 zones with with one of my OLBs(being the beasts that they are) hot routed to Blitz at the line of scrimmage

*Wait for the O formation to pop up before selecting a play.....Bad news for you if ya got Wr's on Linebackers.......Its big reason why I don't like playing teams like the Saints,Cards, Pats with 4-5 WR sets.......they force me to run nickle/dime/Qrts all the time....taking away from my Ds strength....though I guess thats realistic

*Make sure you got some good audibles.....To counter the Psychic cpu play calling....Come out in a pass D and audible to a good run blitz and the opposite on passing plays every now and then

Pressuring the Qb is a must....if you can't get to the qb and force hurries then you're going to get carved up just like in real life

As for the running game

If you absolutely have to have it easier I would suggest changing:

*User Brk Tkl--->1
*CPU Tackle---->3

Just like the cpu has.... I liked those for a while but I think speed backs are still a little too effective with those

Should play alright though with bruisers

Another note on the running game

I kind of explained this a few pages back, but I'll post this again.

Because EA gave the D-line such a crappy "Win" animation, we kind of have to compensate for it by turning up the Tackling Slider(Suction).

Any half decent Madden runner can pick their way through that awful animation. Instead of the D-Line actually pushing the O-line back into the back field, we get this weird looking gliding move that goes left or right....and as I said its too easy to pick your way through that IMO

thanks man.. actually after about 5 or 6 games im getting used to the run game.. not exactly torching defenses but with my pathetic o line i really shouldnt be.. i guess i should stop using ask madden for defensive plays..

and i wish i had steelers linebackers.. cant wait until the bills are good in real life so i can play without feeling pitiful

We may not want to mess with these until the patch comes out,looks like they will tweak the sliders

Its alive in other threads as proponents of this thinking work on their own sliders.. but I wouldnt hold your breath from anything from Bill. He states above that this thread was never about him creating sliders.

Re: Breaking Down Sliders... How They Really Work

well boys and girls, ive been busy w/ real life, but I decided to actually finalize my slider set and post it... I feel bad leaving ppl hanging (even though my theories have been used to create many other slider sets) so ill be throwing out some of my own sliders...

3 days... sometime Thursday, there will be sliders... I realize most of you have probably come up w/ your own set by now, but thats ok, if you used this thread to create a set your happy w/, then mission accomplished

as a sort of side note, i'm anxiously waiting to see how the patch effects the game... the last few days i got to playing again after about a week off, and i'm trying to move my sliders in the direction that they will transition into the patch well (aka i'm not worried quite as much about reducing broken gang tackles, instead if the tackles look/feel good besides that one aspect, then I think it should work well after the patch... and other things like that)
