lol Yeah they complain/ critique, but they help too. EA gets valuable info from them. The critics keep game companies honest, so to speak. I'm more irritated that EA released a flawed game than the fact that the guys pointed it out; seriously.

Wrong. I played both Madden 2005 and 2K5 during their time.
I enjoyed Madden more in part due to it having a better franchise mode in my opinion.

Re: Whatever happened to enjoying games

Here's something I originally posted on the Gamefaqs Madden board:

You know, when I was 19, I was really big into car stereo. I had three Audiobahn 12s in my trunk, some nice Boston component speakers in custom kick panels up front, some nice amps, the works. I mean, I was rocking it out. Then, first day of fall semester 2009, some punk going 35 in the school parking lot rear ends me. End of stereo. I never did get another one.

That's when something weird happened. Whenever I'd listen to music, I'd actually enjoy the song. I wouldn't be worried about how awesome my bass was, or if there was a cop nearby, or if some thugs were going to steal my system. Instead of admiring how good my stereo sounded, I was simply able to just enjoy the music. This made it so much more enjoyable.

Moral of the story? Quit worry about all this and that. Well, the animations aren't perfect. I can't see all the blades of grass. Phil Simms made a comment that wasn't appropriate for the game situation. Ask yourself, are you having fun? I'm not saying don't expect improvements here and there, but this truly is a heck of an enjoyable game. I realize it's a video game.

A family member of mine had to go to the emergency room yesterday complaining of chest pains. I'm more concerned with the doctor making a perfect diagnosis than I am of EA making an absolutely perfect video game. It's entertainment, not life and death. And it is a heck of a fun game. Bottom line.

Re: Whatever happened to enjoying games

I've always enjoyed the Madden series. The games have had a lot of flaws, but for the most part I've been able to look past them. This year is a little different. It seems like they are making some nice changes to the series, but at the same time they are leaving out features that have been around for several years. I've never been frustrated with a game before it was even released until Madden 13.

I remember when CCM was first announced I couldn't wait to try it out, then I find out there is no couch co-op and I was completely deflated. On one hand I'm really looking forward to all the new stuff that comes with CCM, but at the same it's frustrating to know that I'll have to play it alone for this year.

As opposed to Madden's terrible player progression (now its even more horrible with arcade style XP distribution), NO CPU trading and poor CPU trade logic, and I don't even know what there is to complain about regarding the menus.

At least 2k still had better progression and trade logic than Madden does today.

I really appreciate OS because it provides not only an outlet to share ideas with like minded gamers and be exposed to different POVs, it's also I a great place to "scream at the wall", within the TOS of course, lol.

On a side not, with all seriousness Mods, can we please get the word "perfect" censored on OS?
Venting about a game you want to see improved is ok. I do it all the time.
The ones I'm talking about are those that come out and pretty much say "Madden's been terrible for years. We need 2K back" type people.
They flood all threads with what's wrong with Madden and again focus on all posts that have any positive towards Madden without ever giving any feedback on the game itself.
Not to mention they bring up the exact same things over and over again that have already been explained why it is the way it is for this year. (editing, Co-Op etc..)
Madden 13 is what it is. Continuous complaining about this version is pointless.
Lets focus on enjoying the game this year for a little(It is a game) while while at the same time making sure what we'd like to see in 14 gets out there.

This years Madden, like in previous ones, may not emulate the NFL perfectly and completely. But it still is a darn good representation of football, while also serving as a enjoyable gaming experience. When I want the real thing, I watch the real thing. When I want to fantasize about it, I play Madden. Simple as that.

I love the spirit of this thread. Really do. Thanks. For me, I just have a handful of issues with EA football that as a former player, can't get past. But I don't come here to whine about them. I would enjoy the game much more if it would just not break my immersion by doing so many non-football acts. As time goes on, it's getting better and I hope it's closer this year. Fingers crossed.

Re: Whatever happened to enjoying games

This is the first time I've said this....

And the point is moot because this is not an option....

But I was thinking about Call of Duty and how I played it for a long time but then got tired of the way people play it and how "arcadey" it felt. Then I got Battlefield 3 and fell in LOVE with it. It's much more realistic.

I could be wrong here but most people either like COD or battlefield or both. I haven't met many who don't like either (if you're into that type of game). So when/if the NFL ever allows competition to EA, maybe these problems will stop. Or it could just get worse lol. Who knows.
