Hey mk, I love your slider set, I am using it right now and it has given me great games, for the past few years I have used total control hitting, why do you go away from that and use classic? Ide love to hear your opinions on this subject, thanks man

...because i'm an old man and am not good with the sticks (LOL!!). Seriously, I'm almost 39 years old. I'm just better using classic hitting.

But that aside, I actually like classic hitting because it's about timing and eyeing up where the ball is being thrown. I do NOT use the left directional thumbstick. I know one-button hitting is not for everyone, but I find it to be the most enjoyable baseball experience. These latest sliders are giving me AWESOME games.

If I want to pull the ball I look for balls pitched low and inside. This year, 2k is rewarding you for good decisions. last year, that piece of crap game would allow you to pull a ball that pitched 3 feet outside. They've fixed that. If I want to go the other way, I will delay my swing, especially if I want a groundball to the right side of the infield.

In real baseball there's no such thing as a left stick. It's all about timing and pitch location.

Like I said, it's not for everyone. But I love it. I play strictly (right now) exhibition games. If a patch drops and fixes some things I will then do a fantasy draft and play in my own created world (it takes me forever to get through the draft because I get meticulous). But this is a very, very fun game and I give 2K credit for the effort they're giving this title.

(one last thought... if you are looking to use thumb stick hitting, i'd suggest you look at blazzen's or bigfnjoe's user batting sliders. i know that blazzen is still plugging away at his so you might want to check those threads. the other sliders are pretty much the same across the board, but those would be helpful for you to review).

One small change added:

raised user gather error frequency from 90 to 95 (under fielding). This now matches the cpu's.

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K11 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching

2 new updates - Wednesday, April 27th - 9:20 a.m.

- raised human pitcher accuracy from 25 to 35. I was seeing elite pitchers struggle. In order to see more user walks I wanted to make this slider more difficult, but I think I made it too hard. I will test this at 35... I may lower it to 30, but I'll run with 35 for now. Another way to offset this will be to raise human pitcher composure influence from 0 to 5. I have not done this yet, but I might.

- lowered user gather error frequency from 95 to 90. I think 90 is a good number. At 95 I was seeing good fielders bobble balls that were somewhat routine.

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K11 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching

Few more updates - Wednesday afternoon (1:45 pm)

Games were still a little too offensive for my tastes. Hoping to find some happy mediums in the latest changes.

The last few that are noted in bold / red can be tweaked to your liking. It's those sliders that are now kinda in the "final" stages of being finished out.

thanks, and feedback appreciated!

I know this may sound a little strange, but what if you rolled with something like 45 contact and 60 power. Since it seems power not only controls HR rates, but also how successful your hits are, then at a lower setting like 60 you should see less hits. But with contact so high you are still going to hit the ball often and have less strikeouts, which is my biggest problem, and since you make contact more often you'll see more fouls and have a chance to still hit the same amount of HRs.

I may be completely wrong with my assumptions, but this might work.

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K11 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching

I'm really starting to go with the opinion that for the cpu offense to have a sense of "fear" in them, you've got to put cpu power at 85. At 80, they still don't scare me at all.

I also bumped user power back up to 75. At 70 they don't do anything more than bloop shots and have no real power.

In classic hitting I think we have to look at the game differently than those who use the thumb stick. classic is all about timing and bat-on-ball physics. I do NOT use the left directional stick, only hitting the green A button.

I played today's philly (me) at arizona (cpu) matchup. I won 2-1 in the top of the 10th. even at the user 30 contact and 70 power I had NINETEEN hits for philly.

I don't know...I'm just at a loss with this game. I really like it, but I can't find the "simulation" experience I'm looking for.

I'm thinking about going with user hit contact 25 and user hit power 75. making contact, even with this slider at user 30 is not hard for me. i've played a more patient style of baseball and i'm striking out much less and drawing more walks (I drew 3 with grady sizemore in today's matchup i played against KC).

i'm really, really liking all the new setups. 40 cpu contact and 85 cpu power is where i'm going to stay.

appreciate your response... thanks!
