Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K11 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching

I recently switched to Classic Hitting because I like the idea of timing mattering the most like real hitting. I don't like having to use a power swing, contact swing, or defense swing. Whenever I play(ed) baseball in real life, I don't go up to the plate and "power swing". I go up there and swing nearly the same every time. The only difference between a few of my HR shots and my ground balls to short stop were how I got the bat on the ball, not because I swung for power on the HRs and contact on the ground balls.

With Classic Hitting a guy with tons of power like Uggla will have a higher chance of hitting a HR like real life, but my guys like Prado and McClouth are still going to get HRs now if I hit it right, something that never happened with me even power swinging.

Anyways, slider talk... I only have my power at 65 and contact at 35 and I am seeing my players hitting shots. I'm not hitting 5 HRs a game, but I am seeing results that I am really liking. With lower power, but a lower pitch effectiveness from the CPU I am seeing a lot more realistic results in the hitting game. I actually hit two HRs in a game against the Padres and still only had 10 hits. In all my other games with different sliders, any multi-HR game I had usually average 15+ hits a game. Usually any HR game resulted in 10+ hits, but now I am seeing 7 hit games with HRs still.

Agreed my friend, I have decided to switch to Classic Hitting also for the EXACT reasons u just said, That was word for word why I did it also lol.........With ur Conact and Power at those numbers u stated what is your CPU Pitch Success at?

Guys... GREAT find by Redemption with regard to AI PITCH SUCCESS...

I've rebuilt a few things...red / bold. Trust me, I think we're really onto something...

See his thread (he's now banned) for what I posted there about a game I played today...

My pitch success is right around 60. That may change though as it seems we found out lower pitch success and lower power still equals HRs, but also soft hit ground balls too.

Now if we could only get the CPU to hit a soft ground ball instead of line drives all the time.

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K11 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching

The problems I keep having with the CPU is they either hit a hard ball or strike out. They hardly ever hit anything soft. They strike out, line out, or fly out, or hit a hard chopping ball to get out. I want to see them get out on a ball my infielders have to charge. I want little bloopers to be hit in the shallow outfield, not liners that go just over the head of my SS and in front of my LF, but something that easily clears the infield, but has such little velocity it dies quickly and drops in front of the OFs.

I know I keep bringing this up, but if we have the CPU contact at 45 or something higher, and then put their power at 55 or 60 we might have a chance to see some HRs by them and still have their offense as a threat. They'll end up making contact more and striking out less as well as possibly having the chance at a HR since they make contact so much more often.

Also, why does the User Pitch Control state something along the line of, "Affects the accuracy of a pitch on a steal attempt against the user." Whats the steal attempt got to do with it?

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K11 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching

I know what you're saying... this game does have its frustrations...

regarding definition provided - there is a thread elsewhere (probably buried from a month or so ago) that stated (from 2K) that was a mistaken definition.

The problem with lowering the cpu's power slider - they will have NO power. Then the problem becomes is that the cpu is no longer a threat.

here's what i'm personally finding: cpu power at 85 is too high. they crush everything and you're powerless to stop them. they will get no less than 14 hits (at least in my finding). 80 cpu power almost seems too low. But i'm going with the 40/80 combo. that gives a balance to the new 25/50 user combo. make sense?

we just have to live with some flaws... i'd like to see more cpu hit variety as well, but outside of climbing inside my xbox and making that happen, i just don't think it will

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K11 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching

Yea, it is very frustrating. I have played well over 40 games now and I even had power up to 90 at one point, but I ended up with the Mets getting 19 hits on me, but they only had two HRs. I have only given up 4 HRs in 40 games.
