They also mentioned that Colvin is the back-up 1st basemen behind Pena.

Yes, you're right Bob, I remember hearing that about Colvin.

As far as Cashner, I would prefer him in the Pen. Maybe give Samardzija that 5th spot.

Yeah I think I took that during qualifying at Talladega last October. Can't wait to see him in the Cup series. As far as pitching I think I'd rather see Cashner in that 5th spot instead of Samardjza.

Unless we are a surprise this year. We shouldn't be anymore then a .500 team at best. I like our young studs we got on the big league roster, and the promising guys going to come up. If all goes well, I cannot wait to see the 2012, 2013, and 2014 Cubs in action.

Chris Archer(good one), Robinson Chirinos(never gonna see majors with Cubs), Hak Ju Lee(potential), Brandon Guyer(Good One), Sam Fuld, For Matt Garza.

As do I. Don't forget, we also get two other players from the Rays. Probably will never see the Majors, but oh well.

Hate this trade. Arch, Robinson, and Guyer were the 3 best prospects left in the Cubs system since Castro and Cash got called up.

Archer will be a starter in the big leagues by '13.

Chirinos could have been the backup for the Cubs this coming season.

Guyer will be a decent everyday outfielder in the bigs by '13.

Cubs farm system is empty now with the exception of Brett Jackson.

Re: Your 2011 Chicago Cubs

I am all over this trade. I am fed up with hearing how great all of our prospects are, only to see them fizzle in the bigs. Rich Hill, Corey Patterson, Felix Pie...............doesnt matter why they fizzled.

I will go with a proven commodity!

There is absolutely no guarantee these guys will have a major impact with the Cubs. Garza has proven to be a very good pitcher in the AL East.

I will take this as a starting five

Zambrano
Dempster
Garza
Wells
Cashner

It may not be the best starting five, but its very solid from the front end to the back. You throw in the bullpen with the addition of Woody, and Pitching should not be a source of issues in '11. When some of these contracts start to free up in the next 2 years, we can attack the free agent market and continue to build a farm system.

Re: Your 2011 Chicago Cubs

I didn''t like the cubs gave up Archer, but you gotta go with the Sure thing here.. and as long they didn't give up Jackson I like the deal.. and it's not like Garza is old. This trade at least makes us contenders in the Unknown NL Central.
