Re: CPU vs CPU

Your stats look right in line with the results I'd expect given my slider experimentation tgreer. I think Power at 4 and Solid Hits at 4 is going to provide the closest approximation to MLB hitting numbers. I'm finding Power at 4/Solid Hits at 5 just a little too much.

If you were to lower Pitcher Consistency you would see more walks but also more wild pitches. I guess it just depends on how annoying you find wild pitches whether that is something you feel like doing. From my testing I don't believe lowering Pitcher Consistency has any tangible effect on hitting stats.

Here's an update on my trials through 33 contests. Quite a bit more offense in the 15 games since I last posted:

Averages are per team per game (2010 MLB in brackets)

AB 34.36 (34.02)
R 4.55 (4.38)
H 9.08 (8.76)

BB 3.20 (3.25)
K 7.14 (7.06)

2B 1.77 (1.75)
3B 0.20 (0.18)
HR 1.11 (0.95)

E 0.44 (0.62) 11 fielding errors, 18 throwing errors

SB 0.53 (0.61)
CS 0.18 (0.23)

WP 0.91 (0.34)
HBP 0.17 (0.32)

Will check that out for you when my next game finishes. I haven't been recording DP's but I can get the numbers from the stats pages in my franchise.

EDIT:

Yes seems there are a few too many. 1.98 per game in my franchise as compared to 1.53 per game in the bigs last year. Nomo17k found that the GB/FB balance was a little off in The Show 11 (too many GB) so that probably explains the discrepancy. Incidentally, Derrek Lee of the Orioles has already ground into eight DP's in my season and it is only April 15th.

Nice! I say, if the trend continues, raise steal frequency a click, lower the success a click, and raise one or both of the errors a click and call it a day.

Then, maybe Knight would be so kind to provide us with a catcher re-rating formula...and you're done done done!!!

Great job! Are these the ones posted a page or two back?

Seriously, well done man! I may roll with these for my MOM games!

Yep these stats are using the Power at 4, SH at 5, PC at 1 sliders I posted a couple of days ago.

The WP are troubling me. When watching a game and men get on base I'm almost waiting for the WP. There's been at least two walk off wild pitches so far. Takes away from the realism somewhat. I was thinking of upping every catcher to 100 blocking just to see how much difference that would make.

CPU Power is the tricky one because it is very sensitive. 3 probably isn't quite enough, 4 may be too much. Also, you will see too many WP with these sliders. That is probably something we will have to live with or edit catchers to solve.
These??? Verbatim???

That's the ones. As you observed, fielding errors should probably go up a tick or two. I also think solid hits at 4 might be slightly better, I don't think the solid hit slider is as sensitive as the Power slider so lowering it by one won't kill the offense.

Having said that I'm going to run a 75 game test (in honour of Nomo17k) with my current set, just to get a clearer picture.

Looks great Daiyoung! Yes I noticed when using your exact sliders your walks were far and away the best i've seen. My problem was what you just said...I got so annoyed "sweating" the wild pitch when someone was on base. Seemed to happen at important spots in the game too. I am annoyed my BB are not exactly where I want them but for me I think I can handle that better then the more frequent WP. That is just my personal preference though. For some reason my steal success rate seems off..Through 19 games they are 26-30 attempts. Any suggestions there? Or will it even out some? I am using 7 for Steal Freq.

One more thing, about the wind...I am liking where the power numbers are with no wind so I am contemplating leaving it at 0 when I start my real franchise. What do you think? Appreciate it!
