Re: Bobhead's Sliders

Sorry lol... I've been dealing with the Flu and my mind has sort of been all over the place the past two weeks.

I just felt the change produced better at-bat sequences. I was getting the right number of balls, and drawing the right number of walks, but it seemed like the CPU's 1st pitch-strike percentage was excessively low. I raised Strike Frequency, lowering Pitch Control 1 point to preserve the same pitch variation, while making the CPU pitcher a little more aggressive.

Re: Bobhead's Sliders

Hey Bobhead with these changes have you thrown any knuckleball pitchers? I'm a Mets user and thus have R.A. Dickey and normally he can be a little all over the place like some knukers but since this last changes he can't find the zone with the knuckleball at all. Is it possible that a change makes the pitch flutter too much? Have you experienced this at all? Let me know.

Re: Bobhead's Sliders

Are you sure it's the changes in sliders, and not the recent patch? The Knuckleball was changed in that patch, and I believe it was made less accurate. If you aren't having any problems with other pitches/pitchers, I'd imagine it isn't the Sliders that are troubling you.

Re: Bobhead's Sliders

Here’s my latest update after 20 games playing with the Yankees.

The only differences to your current sliders are
1) I've now moved HUM contact from 4 to 5 (changed it after 18 games);
2) HUM Pitcher control and consistency at 4;
3) I’ve kept CPU foul frequency at 2.

hitting's at all-star, pitching's at HOF.

Record: 6-14

Pitching Stats (franchise after 20 games vs. current real life):
Innings Pitched: 179 (20 Games)
Batters Faced: 742
ERA: 3.66 -- real life 3.52
Walks: 42 -- 2.1 per game -- real life 3.3
Strikeouts: 107 -- 5.35 per game – real life 7,06
Hits: 174 – 8.7 per game -- League rank: 8th – real life 8.54
HRs: 30 – 1.5 per game – real life 0.81
Runs Allowed 84 – 4,2 per game -- real life 3.96

Batting Stats:
At-Bats: 644
Batting Average: .210 -- real life .253
Hits: 135 – 6.67 per game -- real life 8.57
Doubles: 29 – 1,45 per game -- real life 1.44
Triples: 1
Home Runs: 32 -- 1.6 per game -- real life 1.54
Walks: 74 -- 3.7 per game -- real life 3.94
Strikeouts: 156 – 7.8 per game -- real life 6.81
Batting Average w/ RiSP: .160
Runs Scored 78 – 3.9 per game -- real life 5.24

Fielding:
Errors: 14 -- 0.7 per game -- real life 0.65
fielding pct.: .981 -- real life .983

My pitching’s improved a lot and seems to be getting to about where it should be, but my hitting’s gone south. And although my averages for walks and extra base hits average are pretty realistic, my batting average – especially with risp – is pathetic. And I've lost a lot of games by one or two runs.
That’s why I’ve moved HUM contact the last couple of games up to 5.
Any thoughts/suggestions, bobhead (or anyone else)?

I was in the 6-7 hits per game camp also. What i have done instead of increasing hitting sliders is lower the computer fielder reaction slider by 1 back to default. For me it has increased the hits to the 8,9,10 mark per game without leading to more HR's or Doubles, it just lets the ball get through the infield for the extra few hits without the infielders gobbling everything up when it was at 6.

Bob, excellent sliders i am not sure why i strayed away from them originally but have had some cracking games thru the last 10 or so.
Only changes i have made are the one above and pitch speed to 4....i just can't live with it at default never mind at 6!!

ok, I might try that method, although many seem to be worried about dropping reaction with fielder run speed and arm strength reduced...
oh, and I forgot to say that I've also got pitch speed at 4!
