Sorry if this has been asked or discussed earlier. But could an issue with pitchers progressing so much also be an issue with not enough good hitters in AA and AAA. If pitchers progress based not only on their potential but also based on performance, then they need to proform worse at the start of thier baseball career to deter rapid progression in talent. If pitchers get hit hard early on their potential may decress by defualt.

If anyone has tested this please let me know.

Absolutely that is the issue, as discussed earlier its a flip flop from last year where there was a ton of big bats but you could only get pitchers up to around 85 potential i believe

so should we not only be dropping pitcher potential and maybe pitch speed but also increasing batter hitting ratings and not nessesarly thier potential.

I might just look at it towards the end of each season and adjust accordingly

I think this is the way to go as well. I just simmed to 2022 while editing SP potential -15 for each draft class. League-wide ERA and batting averages look great, but there's a 'realism' problem I don't like.

When the SP potential is nerfed to this degree, you will almost never see any SP good enough to make a rotation until they are about 28 years old. Overall ratings were outstanding, and almost exactly matched the roster that I started with, but you never get any younger players cracking the rotation.

Another thing to look out for is the fringe SP 70-75. They will just hang in that range until they hit their declining age. I plan on manually regressing some of these guys each year depending on their stats. Without doing so, they just kind of clog up the 5th/6th starter spots instead of going away as they tend to in real life.

Re: BA/Hits drop off cliff simming 8+ seasons into Franchise

After having a couple of franchise's "ruined" by this bug, started a new one last night. I've taken a hybrid approach and changed all pitchers coming in the league. If they were in the first or second round I took off 5-10 just depend on age and current skill (Had an 18yo with skill of 48 and pot of 98, he went to 92, had a 23yo skill 64 and pot of 97, he went down to 88). Both first round picks. My logic was the younger guy will have more years and the other one had pitched in college. The highest I left was a 94 and only one. There was a 99 closer who I dropped to 91. After the second round no one was over 85. I logged them all in a spreadsheet and plan to update. However I sim to the draft and then play every 5th game or so. I'll try and update when possible but might be some time in between.
