Re: The fake turnovers in this game need to be addressed

Sorry for the bad drawing. Essentially, this is how I was taught in 7th grade. Look at the half court as 8 different regions. Four on each side of the midline (Line from the rim that runs south to half court).

Safe passing zones are from zone to zone, ONLY when the zones are direct neighbors. So the pass you made was from the far bottom left zone to the zone north of the zone to the right of the original zone (read it slow).

So if you are skipping a zone to make a pass, it is a higher risk pass that you might want to think twice about making.

This is the main reason why we are taught to feed the post only from the wings/corners.

Just try to look at the court as zones, in short.

Whether or not it was a risky pass is sorta ancillary to the point, IMO. It being risky didn't cause Ross to suddenly change direction and run into the only defender who was in his area. Now, if it was a lead pass and he led him there, then all bets are off.

I am pretty sure he lead Ross to that spot.

Even if he didn't, he could have redirected him by making a lead pass in the opposite direction.

Again, user error anyway you look at it man

But he already said he didn't use lead pass... I use icon passing, and I always turn it off in the menus. Plus, you can't redirect a pass after you press the button. From the moment he pressed the circle button, it was beyond his control.

The choice to lead Ross or not was the choice of the AI. (Unless you don't really believe he had lead passing disabled)

Sorry. Didn't see that he took Lead Passing off.

Not sure how you or why you would want to play with that off.

For situations like this is a prime reason to keep it on.

KevinSuttonJr, I am saying to redirect him before the pass is made. But you said he didn't have LP on.

Well...if Ross had stayed on the wing, it would have been a safe pass. Everyone keeps forgetting that icon passing takes two button presses.

1) Brought up the icons...Ross was probably relatively close to the PnR action.
2) Before the button press...sweet, Ross is about to get a open jumper from the wing.
3) After the button press... where the f*ck is he going????
