For instance, someone mentioned being a point guard who always dunks but in the trailer for it all, it showed that if you have a smaller height, your dunking is more down than if you're bigger. So that will impact a lot of things along with wingspan which actually takes down your shooting if you make your guy go up in wingspan so there's consequence to it.

In terms of someone mentioning if you're a slasher then you can't have a jumper and using James Harden an example. In the trailer there's a "point forward" category which obviously wouldn't be in shooting guard but I'm guessing there's something similar to that as a SG which would much more define Harden as he can pass, shoot and drive and it looked to be a mix of all three bucket wise but without being too overpowered in one (which is a fair trade off given that Harden has had some bad shooting slumps even though he can put up points).

Is it individual attributes? Nah and I don't even know which one free throw factors into which is kind of important. But this is actually a far bigger step to things than I think people realize just off of one screenshot, the trailer details it a little and we don't know the impact of the final game yet. There are a few playstyles so if you want to be someone who finishes at the rim with force, you sacrifice your shooting to be a slasher. If you want a shooter and someone who can finish at the rim then you're not really a slasher, so you look towards another play style.

At the end of the day, there's actual improvement being made even if you can argue they can still be better and I'll take that. Instead of height and one general category of "Balance, Inside, Outside" defining your player...you have a bunch of different styles tailored after players in the league as in the trailer.
It just feels like it's tailored solely for online players. The way it's set up, you can't really individualize your player, or make someone like a Lebron or a Curry, or a Dirk, because of the caps and the buckets. Want to be a great rebounder? You're not going to be hitting many threes. Good shot blocker with passing skills to match? Not likely.

I get that they need to impose some sort of system to prevent online play from being a cheese-fest, but it still breaks the immersion of creating My Player. For a mode that is supposed to make you feel like the next big thing, they don't give you the options of really standing out with your skills.

Re: Ten buckets fam!

All they needed to do was:

individualize attributes
Pick position
Pick archetype
Pick playstyle
Pick body type
Pick wingspan
Pick height and weight

Each should all affect how your attributes are played out

Looking like 150 bars/points for improvement over 10 different cats. Loving this even more now.

Re: Ten buckets fam!

I understand why they're doing this, but really this is bothering me. I don't play online at all and it isn't fair to punish the people that don't. How about this, get rid of the stupid bucket and cap system and let us create the character that we want to whatever insane proportions that we want, after all this is a video game.

But, to discourage the demi-god players that people seem to hate, how about a big warning that if you max out a players abilities you won't be allowed to take that player online. So if you want to pay Pro-Am or whatever you can have to keep your stats realistic. You can have your cake and eat it too, you can allow players the freedom they deserve and satisfy the people who complain about unrealistic players online with a barrier.

They don't even need to prevent you from taking that player online. They just need to cap the attributes when you do play online. So I can be 99 across the board when I'm playing solo, but when I go online, just apply the caps to my player based on the position/play style I chose.

Exactly, I see this as progress. I definitely wanted to see individual attributes but the additions of more buckets and height , weight, and wingspan affecting your my players rating is definitely a step in the right directions. And knowing 2k it's a step to us getting individual attributes.

Unrealistic? You can give me the same caps just let me choose what I want to upgrade, what if I'm hurting for VC and I want to be able to finish at the rim with layups until I can make my player better? Nope, upgrade your dunk too. What if I want to be a slasher who is a great ball handler but not well known for his passing ability? Nope I have to upgrade my passing and ball handling together. What if I want to make a guy who knows how to play the passing lanes well but isn't good at on ball steals? Nope can't do that either. For you to call individual attributes unintuitive you really must not know what you're talking about. The bucket system is literally made for simpletons and kids whose brains aren't fully developed yet.
