Well that was terrible. Looked like a team with a new coach, ten new faces and didn't have any preseason action with their starting five.

Both ends of the court were so discombobulated, I have no idea what we were doing on offense a majority of the time. I like that we pushed the ball but when we didn't get a quick look there was a lot of confusion. No where to go but up from here.

If games were scored in getting to the other half court with a look of "uh what now"? It would have been a blowout for the Knicks.

Definitely looked like a team that had very little planned out there. Point guard was a serious negative, D Rose looked like a guy who hasn't played with his teammates and Brandon Jennings just looks like... Well he kinda looks like Brandon Jennings. I think that sequence early in the first half (you'll remember it) where he came up the court, dribbled around in a circle, went from one corner to the other and chucked a 3 for a miss is going to be pretty indicative of some of his play this year, looks like we replaced JR.

There were definitely some times though where D Rose got into the paint much easier than I'm used to seeing from our guards, just need to work on passing out of that position. He almost plays too fast, where he gets to the hoop with no time to make a decision.

The circumstances that led up to this led to a predictable result, we were basically food out there. The December game will be a better judge to see how we match up team wise, it's hard to take too much from this.

Yup definitely wasn't expecting much. Especially since our starters have hardly played together the whole pre-season and haven't had any practices. Those rose missed lay ups definitely will be falling later in the year when he gets legs and timing back. Hopefully he won't get injured when it starts to come back. Melo will definitely need scoring help. Jennings definitely was straight gunning everytime he touched the ball

To me, this season should be about developing Porzingis. I know it's wishful thinking, but I want him to be the first or second option.

Screw the triangle, use more pick & roll.

Re: The 2017 New York Knicks: Can we please stay healthy?

I just read in the Post that we don't have a defensive coach at all, the guy Hornacek ran with in Phoenix is in Cleveland and couldn't get out of his contract, and they just haven't hired a specialist. I'm not as up on NBA staffs as others but this seems like it can't be normal, or maybe it seems like it's perfectly normal for the Knicks and no one else.

I wonder how many teams don't have a defensive coaching specialist on their staff?

I could be wrong but I don't think many teams have one. The position is a relatively new idea.

There are instances of it in the past, like Woodson in D'Antoni's staff. But did they have one for Fisher? I don't think so.

Doesn't look like it from what I'm reading, everyone is just "assistant coach". It's hard to even tell what the specialties of people are supposed to be, they just all have some connection to Hornacek.

Itll be interesting to see adjustments made in the season, players are already ****ting on the triangle, took D Rose exactly one game.
