Re: Fistofrages Heisman Sliders

Fist - I was working on my own slider set (which you can find on the boards here on OS, and I saw your sliders posted. I remembered how difficult they seemed to play last year, so I thought I'd give them a shot. I just played my first game with your sliders.

Game 1: In Dynasty Mode - UK (me) @ Louisville.

Here are the results:

Score: UK 34 - UofL 15
First Downs: 19 / 15
Total Offense: 358 yds / 311 yds
Rushes-Yds-TD: 38-249-3 / 23-48-0
Comp-Att-TD: 10-24-1 / 25-40-2
Passing Yds: 109 / 263
3rd Dwn Conv: 3-10(30%) / 6-14(42%)
4th Dwn Conv: 0-0(0%) / 0-0(0%)
Red Zone-TD-FG: 5-3-1(80%) / 4-2-0(50%)
Turnovers: 3 / 2
Fumbles (Lost): 0(0) / 3(2)
Interceptions: 3 / 0
PR Yards: 66 / 5
KR Yards: 42 / 125
Total Yards: 466 / 441
Punts Avg: 3-37.7 / 6-42.7 (I shanked all 3 punts out of bounds)
Penalties-Yds: 2-10 / 4-20 (I caught them offsides about twice)
TOP: 16:13 / 15:47
TFL: 9 / 8
Sacks: 1 / 1
Pass Deflections: 6 / 4
Field Goals: 2-2 / 0-1
WR Drops: 0 / 3
Pancakes: 4 / 1

UofL RBs had 5 broken tackles.
UK RBs had 1 broken tackle.

Analysis: First of all, some things that I've done with my own slider set. I shanked all 3 punts in my game, this is why I have the USER punt accuracy set at 15, rather than 5. Also, the super kicker for Louisville missed 2 field goals, kicks he would have made with FG accuracy at 50. So I would test that a bit as well.

Now, on to the game. The first half was a massacre. I was up 28-0 at halftime. I had all my rushing yards, and all my passing yards pretty much by halftime. Louisville might have had 3 first downs in the first half. Maybe it was just the "Heisman" level, but in the second half, they started stuffing my runs, getting more heat on me, intercepted me 3 times, and picked apart my defense relentlessly. I guess it kind of evened out the stats a bit.

Some other tidbits: Like you suggested, I did no gameplanning. I couldn't break a tackle if my life depended on it - maybe increase USER HB Ability to 55. Also, man coverage was crazy on both sides. I would put pass coverage at 40 for both sides to cut down on mirroring.

CPU running game - nonexistent. I'll try another game to see if I get better luck next time. But I suspect we'll have to bump up CPU run blocking or decrease USER rush defense until we get more realistic results. I'll keep posting game results like I've done on my sliders page. Check it out when you have time.

Re: Fistofrages Heisman Sliders

I have done all of my testing outside of Dynasty. Perhaps dynasty could play differently, I know some people have claimed that in years past.

I just played MSU at Purdue. I won 27-14. Purdue had 27 carries for 146 yards. I forced a fumble on their first possession and it totally changed the game, the momentum went into my favor and I was up 17-0 at the half.

Keep posting. Try to play a few more games. If the AI run game is still having trouble. Lower human rush defense to 40 and raise AI block to 60.

Try playing Ketucky against a Powerhouse and see what happens. If an A- or A team can't put 30+ points up on you then lets see about doing some things. I am getting fairly low scores right now. So I am up for loosening up the Human defense a bit.

I had 5 broken tackles for me last game for the RB's although a few of my receivers broke a tackle in open space too. The Purdue RB's had 7 broken tackles. I would strongly discourage raising the human RB ability for a few reason, the first being that the run game feels about right to me and if you if do raise the human RB ability, your defenders that Pick up a fumble or intercept the pass will most likely take it to the houise.

Those penalties seem low to me, most of the time I see about 6 penalties per side.

Re: Fistofrages Heisman Sliders

Game 2: In Dynasty Mode - UK (me) @ Florida.

I think I'm gonna vomit... I was marching up and down the field in the first half. And Florida couldn't do anything. I was ahead at halftime, 10-6. Came out in the 2nd half, and I drove the ball 12 plays, down to the Fla 5-yd-line. I was about to go up 17-6, and then Derrick Locke proceeded to fumble the ball, it was picked up by the Florida LB, and he ran it 95 yards for a touchdown. If I had scored on that drive, rather than cough it up, I would have been able to play more conservative in the 2nd half. Instead, I came out throwing on the very next possession, and I had a slant pattern mirrored, intercepted for a Pick-6. BANG - I'm down 20-10. So I went from being up 17-6 to being down 20-10, and I couldn't get back in the game after that. That said, it could have been very different if Locke doesn't fumble the damn ball.

Here are the results:

Score: UK 10 - Fla 37
First Downs: 13 / 13
Total Offense: 226 yds / 275 yds
Rushes-Yds-TD: 28-56-1 / 30-137-3
Comp-Att-TD: 14-27-0 / 13-18-0
Passing Yds: 170 / 138
3rd Dwn Conv: 2-10(20%) / 3-9(33%)
4th Dwn Conv: 1-3(33%) / 0-0(0%)
Red Zone-TD-FG: 3-1-1(66%) / 3-2-1(100%)
Turnovers: 2 / 0
Fumbles (Lost): 1(1) / 0(0)
Interceptions: 1 / 0
PR Yards: 0 / 11
KR Yards: 144 / 43
Total Yards: 370 / 329
Punts Avg: 3-40.7 / 3-20.3 (CPU had 2 shanks out of bounds)
Penalties-Yds: 1-15 / 4-35
TOP: 16:13 / 15:47
TFL: 5 / 11
Sacks: 2 / 1
Pass Deflections: 2 / 5
Field Goals: 1-1 / 3-3
WR Drops: 4 / 0
Pancakes: 0 / 8

Fla RBs had 9 broken tackles.
UK RBs had 0 broken tackles.

Analysis: Gators did nothing in the first half... nothing at all. All of their offense came in the 2nd half. For me, it was the other way around, all of my offense came in the 1st half, and the first drive of the 3rd quarter.

I would expect Florida to come out in the first half and actually put together some drives. They did put two together, but they could only get field goals. Either way, the yardage wasn't there for the gators.

I didn't shank the ball quite as bad this time on my punts. But I had to be very, very careful not to tilt the stick. The CPU made all 3 of their field goals, so that was good to see.

All in all, I guess the only thing I would consider after two games of playing is the User HB Ability. Maybe an increase to 55 would give him some broken tackles. Also, I haven't gotten ANY interceptions in these two games. And I've had several opportunities dropped. Maybe an increase here may be helpful as well.

Up next, @ Ole Miss.

Re: Fistofrages Heisman Sliders

I just played MSU @ LSU, I lost 21-33.

Things I saw, DO NOT mess with the Human Run Defense I moved it down to 40 and I was getting off the ball Quicker, so I am going to up the AI Run Block to 65.

I had 1 pick, LSU had 4, I should have taken the sack, these INT's were my fault.

I broke an 83 yard TD run with Larry Caper. It looked like LSU came with a blitz and they all got picked up and my TE sealed the corner about 7 yards down field and he was off to the races. I saw an LSU CB from the far side take a bad angle at about the LSU 10 yard line, but it wouldn't have mattered much at that point. I had 3 broken tackels, but they don't seem to count the arm tackles I ran through. Overall, I am good with the Human run game. Caper had 61 yards on his other 16 carries.

I am going to make a few subtle changes on page 1.

Re: Fistofrages Heisman Sliders

I just played ND at Florida. I was ND and lost 17-21. Florida had 440 yards of offense, but a goalline stand on the first possession held the scoring low. Allen broke a 95 yard TD on ND's 1st play from scrimmage, but it was called back on a Kamara clipping call. My run game was pretty much non existant. Iput together a 15 play 81 yard drive to start the 2nd half. Brian Smith had a pick 6 to make it 17-14ND with 6 minutes left. Florida scored on a Demps run with 2 minutes left.

I threw a pick and it was game over.

I am going to lower both tackling a hair to open up the run game and get a few more broken tackles. Its really close to being where I want it, but I want to open up the scoring a bit more. (Can't believe I'm saying that based on games in past years)

I may lower pass coverage a little bit more and see what happens.

Re: Fistofrages Heisman Sliders

Alright, I have opened these up a bit to get some more scoring. OU ran for 247 yards on me in a 28-48 loss MSU @ OU. I also reset all sliders to default right before I played this game and re-entered them in. Don't know if that matters or not, but thought I'd start fresh.

I'll start from here and ratchet it down if things get out of hand, but overall that game played pretty good.

I have also noticed that the AI run ability slider really doesn't seem to do much.

See first post for new edits.
