If I pick this up late like next year, do you think there will be still a large community playing?

You should have no problem getting games in.

Should be pretty active until Battlefield 3 comes out.

As my friends and I were talking about this EXACT same thing last night.

It seems that since Vietnam has been out, damn near every match has been nothing but idiots running around playing deathmatch.....it seems that objective based gameplay is a concept that is to hard for many to understand.
There are some days when I feel like I'm the only one trying to actually attack and plant and some days when I'm the only one trying to defend. Then, there are those days on great teams when everyone is going all out to get the objective.

The frustration is overwhelming sometimes, mostly on defense. We have unlimited lives, people. Lets use them.

Exactly, there are so FEW people that actually run out to meet the attackers...seems like a lot of people sit at the MCOM station and what for them to come...I'd rather setup a perimeter and make them lose lives just to get close.

Re: Battlefield 2: Bad Company and Battlefield 1943 announced

There's two schools to defense IMO. Draining tickets is good, however if you're spread out too far, that's easy for the attackers. One guy gets through and then 3 more spawn on him.

The main advantage defense has over attacker is they KNOW where the attacker is going to show up eventually.

I think you drain a few tickets at the beginning of a round, then pack it in either by
A: Choosing to have everyone defend the harder objective
B: "Float" the defense between the two but don't go out too far.

Some defenders get impatient and if the action doesn't come to them, they search for it and let one dude slip by who spawns the other 3 dudes from his clan and they're arming while there's one sniper on defense back at the obj all alone.
