The lone wolf/lieutenant is confirmed to be a Spartan-III, which are weaker than Spartan-IIs.

Since it's already been confirmed to be a FPS, I'm guessing it's like Gears in only tone. Although, maybe there will be a cover system and the camera will snap into 3rd-person, I doubt it though. I hope it's truly dark and violent given it's Reach. Halo games have been pretty kiddie with the violence, and I would like to see something more along the lines of the neill blomkamp shorts.

I would assume that the comparison to Gears is in tone and are only. Bungie's gameplay is definitely going to be their own with there own feel and flow to it.

From what I remember the number "7" has always been infamous. Not to sure on how but just like the 7th on the 7th thing in Halo 3. Maybe someone else can shed some light on this.

Remember in the original Halo 3 reveal trailer they showed at E3 2006 (I think)? Mircosoft and Bungie claimed the trailer was totally in-engine and MC armor had an insane amount of detail put into his armor (it looked all beat up and had many textures on it). Well in the final version of Halo 3, MC armor looked no where close to what they were advertising in their reveal trailer. So yeah, I guess I'll believe the visuals once I see some gameplay.

Bungie stated that the Halo 3 E3 announcement was not the in-game engine, but what they hoped to achieve with the in-game engine. That original E3 trailer was also a year and a half before Halo 3 was released I believe.

Bungie has stressed that this Reach trailer is in-game engine and is in fact part of the opening cinematic to the game.
