A councelor shouldn't be giving you a diagnosis like that, or even suggesting you have something like that without the consult of a psychiatrist.

Both of my older brothers have TS. Strangely, my sister and I do not, but needless to say, it was a huge part of my life. My mom was...let's just say extremely involved...with our local organization for almost 20 years because of it.

It's amazing that for all of the problems they had as kids and still have today, the cool guys they have turned into. Nowadays everyone knows about Tourette Syndrome--it's definitely a part of our collective pop culture. However, when my oldest brother (who is now 39) had it as a kid, NO ONE knew what the heck his deal was. My parents had to go to specialist after specialist for years, and even when they found out what he had, the treatments were completely experimental. To this day my brother refuses to take any medication that isn't aspirin because of all the problems he had with side effects.

Of course, my wife can't talk either. We met in college and she was still dating someone back home. We fooled around for a couple of months, even once right before her boyfriend was coming in for a visit. That Sunday night she drops the bomb on me that they "got engaged" over the weekend. Of course I knew it was BS on both of their parts. I think he knew his days were numbered, so he went for the ol' Hail Mary, and she felt guilty telling him the truth and saying no. A couple of weeks later we were fooling around again, and a few weeks after that, we were officially a couple and have been inseperable ever since.

It's not even that.

A Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) can diagnose just as well as a Ph.D., M.D., or PsyD., but if they're diagnosing after only one session there is reason for suspicion.

You're right, I just don't trust an LPC to diagnose and treat a major personality disorder like NPD. Just my opinion though.

And yeah, if its just one session that counselor should be fired.

I'll go ahead and share here as well.

- Most people don't know this, but I tried to kill myself in the 8th grade, I'm currently twenty.

- Also I really don't care about my life, I could die tomorrow and not really care.

- I feel like there is no hope for humanity, and that a zombie apocalypse is literally the answer to everyone's problems.

This might scare a few people away, but I had to put it somewhere. It's never good to bottle up your emotions and I've done it for 6/7 years.

I'm immensely jealous of the attention and love that my 2 best friends get from the rest of the school. I always feel like I'm "just there." I feel under appreciated and it feels like people don't really care about me, they just care about them. Actually, it pisses me off. Glad I'm graduating Saturday.
