Re: 2009-2010 Hot Stove League

More Halladay news:

According to USA Today's Bob Nightingale from his twitter account:

Quote:
The Dodgers badly need an ace and are focusing on Blue Jay ace Roy Halladay. The Dodgers would have to give up Billingsley and others,
It's unclear who the "others" would be.

I'd be in favor of this trade as Billingsley is still relatively young and has potential that hasn't really been fulfilled quite yet.

In other news Jason Bay turned down a contract offer by the Red Sox in order to test out the free agent market. In my dream world he'd be a perfect signing by the Jays but it's clear the Blue Jays aren't in a "buying' mode right now and are building through trades and the farm system.

I wouldn't trade Bills for Roy for the same reason why SPTO stated why he'd be in favor of the trade. If we can somehow get him or another ace without giving up Bills though, then watch out. Always thought we were an ace away from going back to the series.

The Dodgers have a lot of holes to fill, the question will be will they have the cash to fill them. The McCourt war will will play a part in this at some point. Tim Kurkjian and John Heyman have both stated the Dodgers because of this, may not have the money to re-sign Randy Wolf let alone trade and sign Roy Halladay.

Yankees have a top 10 farm system in baseball. Don't know where you guys think they can't trade with the Jays.

And thats not even to mention the big time pieces they have on their MAJOR league roster.

Not much on the Orioles front other than they met with the Cuban defect Aroldis Chapman recently.

True, the Padres simply don't have the pieces to trade for anyone worthwhile. I would've included Kyle Blanks, but I believe the Phillies have all OF positions shored up.

I still would offer them Kouz or Headley for whatever. Both players obviously produced much better away from PETCO and I think they would pay off at Citizens Bank Park.

At first I thought this was another one of Mr. Franchise's jokes.

Wasn't the Yankees farm system ranked 15th this year?.

As for those "big time pieces they have on the MAJOR league roster" The Yankees probably won't part with Cano or Chamberlain and i don't see Toronto wanting Cabrera or Gardner. Of course Halladay for Ramiro Pena sounds fair right?.
