Can't really hate on the hiring, seems to have a good reputation among those that know his work/potential.

Maybe teach a thing or two to Rob Brantly at least, cause lord knows I want him to learn nothing from John Buck

Yeah no worries, it was more of a general question anyway.

The Rangers are seriously considering the idea of pursuing free agent right-hander Zack Greinke. this is something that rangers really need now that they don't have a true ace.

Adam LaRoche and Sean Burnett declined their mutual options and are now free agents.

This offseason is going to be interesting for the Rangers. They have the Josh Hamilton situation (The Rangers are probably tired of his crap, and are willing to let him walk), they'll likely make a run for Greinke, they have the Kinsler/Andrus/Profar problem in the middle infield, and the catching situation is up in the air. It probably wouldn't surprise me if Zack Greinke and Justin Upton were Rangers on Opening Day next year.

Braves claim Jordan Schafer off waivers from the Astros.

He's still young, and he showed flashes of good play when he was healthy last year. He would make for a solid 4/5 OF type or a pinch runner. I think this is a good pickup for Atlanta.

Interesting. I hope this doesn't mean they aren't going to even make Bourn an offer and give Schaeffer a shot. I don't see Jordan being more than a 4th OF'er.

Color me unimpressed with Schafer.

Jon Heyman reporting that the Nationals are the favorites to sign Michael Bourn, and the Phillies are seen as the early favorite to sign B.J. Upton.
