Bourn and Harper at the top of the order? Damn, lol.

I would love to keep him as it's been really nice having a leadoff hitter since we traded for him, but man, just costs too damn much.

No Chipper, no Bourn....we better find a way to get a bat or two otherwise next year won't be very comforting.

I really, really want us to make a push to sign Bourn. I know he struggled with the bat in the 2nd half, but his baserunning and defense made up half his value last year and he provided a lot of value overall (6.0 WAR). DOB at the AJC was saying he thinks they should let him walk and offer Angel Pagan a 5/55 deal before the market is set. Pagan is younger, a switch hitter, and has the same career OPS while playing above average defense. I'd prefer Bourn, but Pagan would be infinitely better than running Schaefer out there.

Re: 2012-13 Hot Stove League Thread

Cubs and Red Sox are trying to acquire Haren from the Angels.

As long as they don't have to give up too much, it'd be a great move for the Cubs. If they acquire Haren and he pitches well, they can flip him for a top prospect at the deadline.

I think Pagan is looking for much more then 5/55.

Probably, but DOB's point was if the Braves offer now before anyone else has, he may sign just to sign. His market value isn't set yet since no one else has signed.

He'd be perfect for the Cubs. Perfect candidate to flip at the deadline.

One of the rumors I read was Marmol for Haren.

Looks like the Dodgers have signed Mark McGwire as hitting coach.
