Not sure if this was true, but wasn't Reggie Bush asking to be paid as if he was the Number 1 pick in the draft, even though he WASN'T the top pick in the draft?

Was he supposed to come out and say "Well, I didn't get picked first so give me less money."

I would imagine all the top picks want #1 overall money. It's part of negotiating.

Was actually asking if that was true he was asking that or was it just a rumor BSPN made up at the time, not trying to knock the dude.

If the rookies didn't get the money will the vets end up getting the money, nope. Sound more like jealousy than anything else and I bet when LT signed his rookie contract he was getting paid more than some veteran running backs.

There definitely could be some sort of a cap that would keep rookie salaries in check.

And how would that not in turn effect veteran contracts? If a team doesn't have to pony up huge money to sign their top picks, they can spend it in the FA market, or to resign their own players.

If the owners decided to put a salary cap on incoming players how would the "savings" be passed on to existing players? A cap on rookies salaries would depress the earnings of future free agents. If Matt Ryan is getting 30 mil bonus then imagine what type of money Eli and Rivers will get when their time come. Vets should be happy that the rookies are pushing the salary issue because the high salaries will eventually benefit veteran players.

Peace

Or the owners could pocket the money. The veterans players salaries wouldn't rise as fast because of the rookie salary cap.
