Now that's a performance to rate Bradshaw on how great he was, not how many rings he has, that's all I'm saying. I'm not calling him great because he won Superbowl 9 for example. He only completed 9 passes for 96 yrds in that game while Franco and Rocky combined for over 220 on the ground.

Joe Montana is the best qb ever imo. 1981 championship "the catch", he carried the team for the game winning score. Against the Bengals at Superbowl XXIII, he again led the team for the game winning score. The following year vs Denver he threw 5 tds and had a 147.6 rating. It's hard not to say Joe won those games even if he was surrounded by talent.

On the other hand, in John Elway's first superbowl win, Terrell Davis rushed for 157 yards and 3 tds and dominated Green Bay's defense on the final drive. Elway was just 12/22 for 123 yrds and a pick in that game. Elway was a great qb, but if I wanna rate him I gonna bring up "the drive", not Superbowl XXXII.

The rings definitely seem to set guys like Terry Bradshaw and Tom Brady ahead of others. But it definitely isn't the end-all be-all of the NFL, Dan Fouts and Dan Marino are both HOFers and were both great QB's regardless of no rings.

Just so you know the Niners almost lost the game even after "The Catch". The Cowboys had enough time to mount a drive and were moving the ball effectively. If Drew Pearson wasn't dragged down by the back of his shirt at the end of the game the Cowboys would've won.

I think we need to chalk the Niners defense with an assist on that one.

Fair enough. That's what I'm saying about rings not really being a good indicator of a qb. If Pearson scores, Montana doesn't get the hardware and it's through no fault of his own. When he needed to get it done, he did.
