I think you would want to space out Kuzma Schroeder and Harrell and not have all 3 of them on the same unit. I would also throw out THT and see what he has. You might get lucky and him be able it play some in the regular season.

Wes starting in place of Kuzma would also make sense. Schröder, Caruso, THT, Kuz, Harrell is a solid second 5 IMO.

I could see Lakers being his last stop in the NBA. Wouldn't be surprised if he chose Lakers to end his career there since he was drafted by them, then dealt for his brother who obviously had a great career there.

I'm actually surprised realizing Gasol didn't even play 80 games in Toronto for the regular season. Feels like such an important guy, obviously being part of that championship team and almost falling off the bus during the celebration, but he was here for 1.5 seasons. A third of his total games for the Raptors game in the playoffs!

He's not the same Gasol we saw in Memphis, but could still be decent. His 3pt shot has been better than his Memphis days.

and the passing and creation took a huge step forward in the playoffs. He took the next step and with Hayward gone you'll continue see that part of his game. the Js staying together you love to see it.

yeah looked washed in the Boston series. I was way more scared of Ibaka. It's still a good addition but it's not like they are getting Peak Marc. but Lakers are loaded so it doesn't matter.

There will be plenty of series against teams like that where he just won’t see the floor I’m sure, not much unlike McGee for them this year.

Former hawk Deandre Bembry goes to the Raptors which funny enough was broke by Adam Schefter. I’m glad to see him land on a good team that where he has a chance to play. He isn’t much on offense, but he can defend and handle the ball. He will be a good fit for the organization I hope he does well.

Draft choice is not questionable at all and the Bulls may walk away from this awful draft with one of if not the steal of the draft. We’ll see how this staff/front office develops him. By all accounts though, he’s a hard worker and he will put in the time.
I don't necessarily disagree, and athletically he seems great so who knows if 4-5 years from now he's a steal.. Part of my issue is you had teams reportedly wanting to trade up and the Bulls took a guy at 4 they likely could have gotten in the teens. Meaning even if the Bulls wanted to just stay the course completely they likely could have added another decent young piece, or future pick, in a trade back and still made this pick 10 picks later than they did.

He's cooked. He was basically an honorary Celtic in the bubble series again the C's.

Yeah there's no shot this guy was making it to the teens man. Williams benefitted huge from the pre-draft process as he was rising up draft boards leading into the draft. Hype was starting to build around him and from what I've seen and heard from multiple interviews that were done on the ESPN affiliate here in Chicago before the draft the Pistons were linked to him at 7.

                          2020 Offseason Thread

I’m not going to put full stock into the effectiveness of Gasol in how he performed against small teams like Boston, or just a particular series in last years bubble playoffs in general.

McGee also had issues playing against smaller lineups. Had issues in certain bubble series. But Lakers had the versatility to sit him. The AD at the 5 lineup is still there, and the Morris at the 5 lineup will be replaced by Harrell. So while in a matchup against a team like Boston or Miami Gasol might not see the floor as much I don’t think that’s at all reflective of how “washed” he will be in all other cases, or reflective of how much impact he had on Toronto.

Obviously his biggest flaw is going to be when teams send him high on defense but having AD as back help in those situations should mask a lot of that as it did with the Lakers big lineups this past season. But against other lineups I expect him to be solid. Joker, Zubac, we saw how he handled Embiid two years ago, Lopez, etc.

Stolen tweets from others, but impact metrics still peg his on court time as one of the most effective players in the league. Obviously you can’t play Gasol huge starter minutes, but he was a starter for Toronto last year and these stats and per 100 metrics weren’t racked up in garbage time or against 2nd units.

The Gasol addition feels similar to the Rondo addition. Just high level IQ that any time you have him and Bron on the floor the Lakers are winning the mental game. Rondo looked “washed” as well almost his entire tenure with the Lakers, but we know how that experience worked out come playoff time when they need a big play here and there. Time will tell but I assume the same from Marc until he gives me reason not to.

All your asking from Gasol is to be better then Mcgee was which is a pretty low bar since he couldn't even make the rotation in some playoff series. Even if Gasol takes another step back physically his basketball IQ and shooting will be a upgrade. I'm sure its on low volume, but he did shoot 38% from 3 last year.

I expect the Lakers to be a significantly improved offensive team while dropping a bit on defense, especially during the regular season because of the short turnaround.

In the playoffs and depending on the matchups, I fully expect them to put the clamps on again like they did last year.

And the Gasol signing was huge, there's their Joker matchup.
