Madden NFL 15 News Post

In what will be the first of many guest video posts here on OS, longtime OS'er Cody Ballard sent us the following video which gives Madden fans five simple tips to step their game up this fall.

The five tips Cody discusses are:
  1. Get an identity.
  2. Develop concepts.
  3. Work on your reads.
  4. Stop being lazy.
  5. Get involved.
Be sure to watch the video above and give Cody's full article a read on Medium. You can subscribe to Cody on YouTube here.

Those are the same 5 tips I'd send EA on making a better football game, might slide #4 up to #1 tho

Wasn't really listening but wow was that video painful to watch and pretty much the reason I will never touch online. He ran the same shallow cross play with motion probably ten or more times before I stopped watching. It was the same thing I saw one of the "Madden Tips" guys use exclusively in that MUT invitational. I guess there is some humor in the irony that the Packers were the chosen team.

I agree about the same play didn't ea say the defense would adopt to running the same play and u wouldn't be able to do that? I didn't see the defense get smarter at all.

EA has said this in the past for previous versions.

Yeah this gameplay video is atrocious. I guess the title isn't lying though.. it doesn't say "Five Tips To Be Better at Football".. just to be better at Madden. Big difference there.

If you can get in a league with like-minded people, online doesn't look anything like that video. Random head to head games do, though.

Great stuff CNB! The best concepts carry over to any edition of Madden. Nice to see this here at OS.

That type of gameplay pisses me off. That's not football. That's taking advantage of the broken A.I. in the game. The definition of cheese.

That video was painful to watch. Was it in fast forward or something? And the cheese...god the cheese. This video is a good example of why the game needed that delay between adjustments.
This is all well and good but understand at that point you are not playing football, you are playing video games. And I hate video gamers.

this vid is what madden head to head is all about.

most of what he said is spot on but the GAMEPLAY in madden enables the cheesing.

if you cant make realistic animations and spot on movement then let the ratings level the teams.

there are few backs with great hands, yet in madden i can have a 65 cth HB make 10 catches for 100+yds EVERY GAME...

if a player wants to run a/same play 50 times to megatron i dont mind that, and if he catches it 30 times i can live with that because i should be blanketing megatron. BUT if the entire team can make megatron type catches then there is no possible defense to cover 5 receivers capable of making 90% of all catch attempts...

this is why head to head is trash unless its a sim gamer, every player can do everything, realisitcally if you wanted to pass all day you need to get a blocking back in the back field now you change you playbook.

and a short passing game should get physically punished by hits after the catch but since every wr has kung fu grip they never fumble and never seen to get scared of soft up after multiple crushing hits.

the game does not have fundamental counters to strategies cheese or otherwise...

How can he have the audacity to claim he is teaching how to be "better" at Madden by calling 15 audibles per play and dropping back 10 plus yards each play? Can someone clarify for me what I am missing?

No need to knock the guy for playing the game the way madden is suppose and meant to be played. When most of the gamechangers and guys that madden get feedback from play like this what kind of game do you expect madden to be. Now I didn't expect OS to post a video like this but maybe the tide is shifting here.

"Work on your reads..." You're so focused on your glitchy motioned slot receiver that you miss your wide open wide out every play.

That's just it. He's showing how to play Madden well, not football.

if you dont play like this you can never get close enough to EA to give feedback.

but you are right this is how madden must be played online to win most games. thats why i play unranked when they had it..
