RUSSELL WESTBROOK NAMED NBA LIVE 16 COVER ATHLETE

Thunder All-Star Makes Video Game Cover Debut

Today Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: EA) revealed Russell Westbrook as the cover athlete for NBA LIVE 16. Westbrook, the Oklahoma City Thunder point guard, is a decorated NBA star and one of the most versatile and explosive players in the league, demonstrated by his 11 triple-doubles this season, seven more than the next closest player. Westbrook is a four-time All-Star, and was named the 2015 All-Star Game MVP. He was also the NBA Scoring Champion after the 2014 season, and has won two gold medals as part of the US National Team, once during the 2010 FIBA World Championship and again in the 2012 Olympics.

“Russell Westbrook is a player who can do it all, and we can’t imagine a better fit for the cover of NBA LIVE 16,” said EA SPORTS VP of Marketing Anthony Stevenson. “NBA LIVE 16 is all about self-expression, and who better embodies that than Westbrook, both on and off the court? Russell plays every game like he has something to prove. Our team is building NBA LIVE the exact same way, so we’re thrilled to have him as an ambassador for our game.”

EA SPORTS will announce the first gameplay details of NBA LIVE 16 next week at E3, and fans are encouraged to tune into the official EA press briefing on Monday, June 15 at 1:00pm PT for live announcements regarding this year’s game. Show attendees will also be able to stop by the EA booth to get their hands on NBA LIVE 16 for themselves for the very first time.

NBA LIVE 16 is developed in Orlando, Florida by EA Tiburon and will be available for Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft, and PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, and will be available for $59.99. Sounds like an unscripted MyPlayer type mode (could be cool) and maybe an online franchise or Crew type mode. Graphics and animations look smooth as well.
Could be a good year with 2 good games to choose from.

Love the cover choice and graphics

The crossover looked awkward

My birthday is on Monday so hopefully sliders, editing and h2h seasons are spsrt of live 16 or I'll be forced to spend nearly 5k on mut again smh.

Looks nice, not worried about graphics at all, since ever since Live 15 it's next-gen all the way when it comes to graphics.

Regarding animations and physics, this remain to be seen. Animations have been bad for years, so this is a HUGE thing for me.

Not hoping for too much. I'll wait for you-know-what to prove it right or wrong.

Not really a big deal, since Live 14 was 50% Live 13 (or that's how it looked like). It's an illusion that makes you think that Live 15 made a HUGE jump in 1 year. I love Live 15's graphics, but it's because it was their first official next-gen game when it comes to graphics.

I like how Live 16's colors are more saturated, it makes it much more appealing.

Looks awesome! I really enjoyed 15, but the game modes didn't satisfy me in the long run. I'm looking forward to E3 information.

I am definitely pre-ordering NBA 2k16, but I hope this is good. I wouldn't get it at launch but maybe later if the reviews are good. At least give us good gameplay and a good career and franchise modes. Its been years it shouldn't take this long to make something good with all the resources EA has.

PS4 cover looks great cuz of the PS4 box colors. As for Russ in the game, wow. Looks really good but what was phenomenal to me was the facial animation and emotion. The way Russ looked at Beverly as he crossed back over to his right gave me chills. Did notice Beverly's snap-back turn animation and the dunk looked very Live-ish which was not good but we'll see more later.

Good first look, good to know that they'll be at E3 as well.

To be honest, they made a good enough game (for me) last year that if they simply added these things to 16 I would buy it for sure:

1. roster editing
2. player customization (gear and accessories, ratings)
3. more options for rising star/create a player (shooting form, free throw routine)
4. gameplay sliders

Missing those 'features' made me eventually sell the game last year, and it would be a hard sell for me if they still aren't in this year. In any case, good to have Live news this early and looking forward to more info and impressions at E3.

Oh man, I first read it as someone actually PM'ed you that edit-player was in. What a let down.

Hopefully this never-before-seen-in-a-video-game feature is in this time.

I can't lie, when he threw the 3s in the holster, I got some chills for a sec.

Lighting looks much improved. That crossover on the break looked incredible. Dunk looked a little weird but could have been the angle. Interested to see how his jump shot looks in transition.

All I hope for is that the inside scoring isn't too easy and that outside scoring isn't endgame bs

# 60 KingTocco @ 06/10/15 01:27 PM
We all know NBA live has awesome stadiums and crowds, the lighting is nice too...it's ALL about the gameplay though.
