Steeler D Grinds Browns O Down for the Win

Browns 3
Steelers 20

The Steeler's defensive impact plays should clearly summarize how this game went: 4 interceptions, and 9 yards rushing allowed. These guys played fierce. The complicated zone blitz scheme tricked QB Quinn into throwing some passes he wished he had back. The biggest one he wish he had back was a pick 6 he threw in the second quarter into the flats to Ike Taylor to make the game 17-3.

Lions Continue Losing Streak Against Defending Champs, Fall to 0-5

Pittsburgh completely bullied the inept Lions for the entire game. Stafford's first pass was an INT to Ike Taylor, a kind of "welcome to the NFL". He was trying to force the ball to his all-world WR Calvin Johnson who was regularly doubled on the day. The very next play Pittsburgh threw a playaction bomb for 30+ yards to Santonio Holmes setting up their first TD.

Beyond that point Pittsburgh sat in conservative ... Read More

San Diego's Defense Shines in Pittsburgh

The Charger defense, led by Cromartie, completely locked down the Steeler's offense in Pittsburgh nonetheless. Both turnovers in the game were interceptions by Cromartie. One was a very difficult jump ball that was contested, and the other was a mis-fire by Roethlisberger from the pressure being forced. Both interceptions killed long drives and kept San Diego in the driver's seat.

San Diego's run D was so suffocating that the ... Read More

The Armchair QB's season 2 championship was a tight game up until late in the 4th quarter. Both teams played nearly picture perfect defense for its entirety. The holes were small, the hits were huge, and the pressure was fast. As the game wore on the defenses got more and more agressive. It was very ... Read More

Bulls Survive Home Opener

Score: 28-21 Creatine

This game went down to the wire with Bobby Hebert throwing the winning touchdown to Jackie Smith (33 Yards) with 19 seconds left in the game. The game was a shootout where both teams shared the lead at one point in the game.

The offense for the Bees was very pass heavy, only running with Charley Taylor a handful of times. Bart Starr had a great game going 16 for 24 for 266 yards, 3 TD's and 1 INT. James Lofton shredded ... Read More

Iron Pull off Shocker at Home Against Great Whites

(note: Because of technical issues I don't have exact stats to describe and my memory may not be 100% correct.)

Jim Hart failed all game. His confidence was shot. He threw 3 interceptions, and really choked at the important times. Chris Warren broke 1 big run for a TD and that was it. The Iron were playing very sloppy on offense and the defense just couldn't keep bailing them out.

Iron Stay Hot in Charlotte

The Pittsburgh Iron jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter, giving the Savages a single possession which resulted in a punt. The offense was efficient and the defense was fierce. MVP frontrunner Barry Sanders was held to 100 yards on 22 carries and did not score rushing for the first time this season. He still threw a great touchdown pass out of a wildcat variation. Average starting field position: Iron: Own 46 Savages: Own 21.

Iron Steamroll Past Warthogs

When it rains it pours. The Iron barely squeaked out to a 14-0 lead at the end of the half on a QB sneak with 3 seconds left. This momentum snowballed to 2 pick-sixes which created an insurmountable deficit in the third quarter. The Warthogs didn't have much of an opportunity to move the ball after their first couple of drives, of which the first ended in an interception in the redzone. The momentum was in full swing this game.

Iron Hang on Against Great Whites

The second meeting between these two OS South division rivals was within 7 points up until late in the 4th quarter. Both teams made sharp throws and played smart football. Proof of this is the lone two passes defended in the whole game and zero turnovers overall. The difference in the game was a 4th and inches in the Great White's gray area (30-40 yard line) which was an ISO to Megget that was stuffed by the Iron. The Great Whites did score late ... Read More

Iron Inch out Win against Rival Storm in Pittsburgh

This game had a similar ending by the numbers, but played completely differently the whole way through. In the first game the Iron got ahead early and rode their momentum to barely hang on to win. In this game the Storm matched every Iron play blow for blow. It was another very tightly played game. Mistakes were rare, and ones that happened were punished harshly.

Goats Survive the Storm One Final Time to Win Championship

Score: 21-14

This game had everything a championship game was supposed to have. Solid tackling, flawless adjustments, perfect passes, and an ending that left the winner glad it was over and the loser second guessing his final steps. It was that close. The Storm managed to drive the field in the final minutes of the 4th quarter down 1 point. They had to convert multiple third downs and a 4th and 4. In the end ... Read More
